Something still seems to be broken!

This is now well after the usual "outrage backlog" is cleared.

But! As was said earlier .... patience!

sah_assimilator1 kryten Disabled
sah_assimilator2 kryten Disabled
sah_assimilator3 kryten Disabled
sah_assimilator4 kryten Disabled
Is the above the reason for not being able to upload?
I have about 60 or 70 completed units waiting to go at the moment.

Assimilation takes place after Validation. So don't think makes any difference.

Got home from work at 2am last night, have pages of up/dowloads pending. Has anything cleared much since then? Is this a Seti server problem or network problem?

And the kitties say....'We keep pushing the retry button, but not much is getting through!'

ye olde validate errors have popped their heads up. May be best to hold off the uploads maybe.

Hey -- There aren't very many Results Ready To Send, and the Creation Rate is quite low. It looks like maybe we are about to swamp the SETI system, probably because of the lower Quorum, and because of the flakey work units that complete so quickly.

By now, you know this was a Berkeley problem.

However, when this sort of problem arises, repeatedly hitting the "Retry" or "Update" buttons only serves to increase network traffic, slowing down the recovery process.

It's bluddy hard, I know, to resist temptation, and I'm guilty of the same "crime"!

However, holding off, and allowing BOINC to do it's stuff automatically is the best way to go.

Attention Berkeley: major panic on the BOINC website. All the links are showing as [translation missing for ...], and the message boards are completely inaccessible ('Unable to connect to database - please try again later Error: 1040Too many connections').

Not sure whether this is local to your part of the net.

No problems accessing Berkeley URLs from this part of the UK (ATM), nor with WU results return / downloading new WUs.

No problem with the SETI bit of Berkeley (and hence WUs), but the problems are continuing with the BOINC website (I'm also in UK).

Anyone tried to download a new copy of BOINC recently?

Yep!

I get an error message, but haven't seen any posts about it, so am staying with the old version until we get a download that works.

Looks like the Upload/Download servers are borked ... on the "No work" thing, but failing to connect to "report results"

I believe there is an issue with WUs not being available, as these are being drawn off the splitters as soon a they are ready.

Happily, an additional Splitter (#6) has recently been added, and the creation rate has improved as a result. Hopefully, this will keep us supplied with enough WUs until Kryten gets replaced in a few days. Then the high Validation and Assimilation queues will slowly drain and the ReadyToSend queue will be built back up. Hang in there just a little longer!

I've been getting that sort of thing on all my PC's at two seperate locations since late affternoon. I'm guessing lots of machines all repeatedly trying for work thats not their may be causing it

As we are close to distributing new data recorded with the multi-beam recorder, we descreased redundancy levels for current data. In the near term, there may be periods when it is difficult to obtain work. Your BOINC clients should retry regularly on their own and will eventually get data to process.

Berkeley staff also added a 6th splitter yesterday, all 6 splitters are currently working. However server status reports "Workunits waiting for validation" have a significant backloag ATM.

..... reports "Workunits waiting for validation" have a significant backloag ATM.
.......

Hi Keith T. I guess "significant" can be based on perspective and experience. I remember once in late 2005/early 2006 when there was a whole digit infront of the 140K it now shows. At that time they took down the site overnite to let the validators run. If memory serves it was validating somewhere near 300K/hour until it was done. But then I'm getting older every year LOL

also remember it's a "wu" waiting validation, and there were 4 results/wu (now 3/wu) So they're talking about anywhere from 420K - 560K results.
