Those are mighty impressive graphics Fuzzy. Hope they didn’t take you too long to make, because the person who made this donation will not be getting a green or “your†new gold star. See: Donations to SETI@home in February 2007: [Page last updated: 6 Feb 2007 23:02:56 UTC] % of Volunteers that have Donated:0.00% Or, here are January 2007: [Page last updated: 6 Feb 2007 23:07:24 UTC] % of Volunteers that have Donated:0.02% <wow is that for a reason? SETI has created some new Message and Discussion Boards lately. But I’ll be darned if I can find the posts from people asking for those new boards? I’m still waiting for something good (refer to previous posts) to donate more. I’ve donated in the past. Nope, I’m not a major donor. But as Pappa says: everything counts! Count me out for now. |

Wavemaker You bring up and interesting point, if you look at how the percentage is rounded... and we were to only use the currently "active" 190000 users it would look something like this 30/190000=1.5789473684210526315789473684211e-4 or 0.00015789 So yes that is pretty small... If we look at the new Forums, one of the things that was reqeusted was to have a way to get information from seti and be able to hold some kind of dialog. In a Chat with Eric I asked (besides the broken https in teh forums) is there a way that you could create a forum where only the Admins could create a new topic, but then would allow users to ask follow on questions. As the new forums were initially created for here they are a part of the BONC Forum Code so all projects benifit. I have been fairly quiet, I knwo that things for hardware are happening in teh background and when the list of what has been received and what is still need will probably point to the to the Tech News Forum or the Blog So as funds to keep the bandwidth flowing and work to get Astropulse in everyones hands, MultiBeam to Seti Main... I know there are a lot of things that are not being told. This does not mention Matt and Crew are working to get the bandwidth changed to the less expensive ISP... Fighting the "kryten dragon" and somewhere in all that trying to get time to be with family and friends. I will say that some funds will be needed for getting hardware online to replace kryten, klaatu and koloth.
There is nothing wrong with biding ones time, before making the plunge... It was stated that we were good into March... Anything that happens (donation wise)until the next push only decreases the need... I have managed to procure two fiberchannel cards that hopefully will ease the transition and provide a spare. Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Hi folks, it took longer than intended, but here goes: I've installed a PayPal donation gateway at lunatics.at. Prior to this, I've discussed and agreed on a modus operandi with Eric Korpela. He has full access to all transaction details. All donations received go to SETI@Home in full. Please support SETI@Home with your donation, however large or small! Every little bit helps. Thanks for your help! Regards, Simon. Donate to SETI@Home via PayPal! Optimized SETI@Home apps + Information |

As of [9 Feb 2007 23:49:04 UTC] $163069.92 or 30.2% of the Goal has been Raised. As You can see that is almost 1/3rd of the Goal in a little over 2 months. Simon has completed the Seti PayPal Gateway that allows those previously wishing for it the chance to help. If you enter your Account Number (found towards the bottom of your account page) You can also have a green star... If you desire to make unvisible you can turn it off also from the account page. Team Founders/Captains Please take time to let your Team Members Know. Team Members you might need to let You Team Founder/Captains know that the PayPal Gateway is ready. With replacement hardware needed for kryten, klaatu and koloth every bit helps. There is a need for cash that can Help move the servers slightly ahead. When MultiBeam hits Seti main here in the next few weeks what is "bad now" will be "worse" without help... Thank You for You Help and Consideration Pappa Notes: * Eric has Complete Access to the Account. * What goes into the account comes to Seti. Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

UPDATE: I delivered the P4 System to Eric and Matt; along with the APC 1400XL Rack Mount Backup Battery, and two 10/100 24 Port Switches with Gigabit Uplink on both Switches. I received a well guided tour of the SSL by Eric. The site is awesome, Eric, Matt, and everyone are awesome people with equally awesome jobs. The Server Closet, (as described by Matt on these boards), is truly tight fitting. However; every machine has a job, and each machine performs its job admirably. Unfortunately; the P4 is unable to replace Kryten, (as surmised even prior to my leaving SoCAL for NorCAL to obtain the machine), however, Eric and Matt have plans to put it to use elsewhere in the Network. The two Switches will definitely be put to good use, and the Backup Battery was greatly needed. All in all, an excellent trip for me. I was glad to be able to assist. I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open; should any further hardware become available, I will not hesitate to contact Eric or Matt. In close, Kryten is still an open ended issue. I still hope, (as do others), that the machine offered by Dr. Dan can be added to the equipment I have delivered. Power specs and modifications are still being looked into. Other priorities at Berkeley have come up within the SSL Department; and have put a hold on what Eric, Matt, et. al. can do as far as further work on the ISP issues. However; work is to move forward again by the middle of next week on the ISP and other issues. This upgrade process is not an easy endeavor, and more hardware is needed and necessary. If anyone else can add to the assistance provided by me and offered by Dr. Dan, please feel free to step up to the plate when available to do so. By working together, we can keep the SETI Project going and assist Eric, Matt, et. al. in making their jobs a little less stressful. Sincerely, TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Evening All The Truth is Seti needs Money and Hardware! That is the bottom line... I know that many would if they could, and the PayPal Issue has been solved in the short term... This keeps getting tougher as many do not want to hear the Truth! Many do not know or watch! Seti BOINC may just disappear. If you talk about this to Friends and Team Mates then that could be more important! The More people that are working to solve the money crunch the better... It can be accomplished! To an extent I have became unpopular because I say Seti needs money... Many people are saying the same thing, but because of one name or two or three they are ignored... Hardware is Needed, You can look at the Donate Hardware II The Message is that the Survival of Seti is in Your Hands! It is up to You! I and others have spent many hours trying to convey what is happening and to get funds to the Seti project. More than that we can not do... That is for You to decide, I and others hope you decide Yes! Please consider a Donation or You have a PayPal Account or area server administrator Donate Hardware II I am only the messenger... Pappa Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Blurf Thank You, and Eric stated he was working on the code to make that happen more automatically (the Donatation Star). It was hopefully to be finished sometime today... I Interrupted with issues about pending credit, validator issues and comparisons to Enistein (somehwere in here fits in, Matts defined gremlins)... Today I see Matt posting in the Staff Blog about there may be a fix and more that will be happening shortly... I apologize that I may have delayed your Star... I made a donation via the Paypal system last week.... Regards Pappa Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Wish they would hurry up and give me my green star ;) Been 12 days now You gotta know they just watch and wait for someone to say "where is my ?", and then they do it just to pull your chain. Seriously though it can take a bit and there have been some issues lately. |

I Personally, want to Thank Everyone that has found "Something!" Job Well done! Okay I am overdue, and trying to not push anyone... As of [1 Mar 2007 1:06:13 UTC] $167891.47 has been raised or 31.2% of the goal... So in three months almost a third of the Goal has been reached... It shows what can be accomplished when everyone works together! I will not mention names, some people want it to be anonymous I would not presume to embarrass them... I also know of one individual that did not want his name published who purchased Two 2.8Ghz Xeons and a pile of RAM for the kryten replacement (roughly $1800+) because of where the RAM was ordered from it is still in transit... The Motherboard was donated and a Case is on order... The quiet statement was, Eric will start the server build on Monday... Another Individual from a Team purchased a Large amount of RAM that is Helping Seti in other machines... I know that one small machine, a couple of switches and a UPS was delivered to Eric and it will/has been put to use... An individual purchased two compatible fiber channel cards to hook into existing drive arrays... I have no word on the other server or optical cards... My bad... What I do know is that drives for the various Array's are still needed... Partly it will be required to get the Upload/Download Array's to a bit of a larger capacity as MultBeam Data hits... When I saw Matt dismiss the Red Lights on the NAS graphic... I cringed... Currently I do not have those model numbers (it requires pulling one, pick one and hope it does not cause the array to crash) but "generally" they are 73 Gig Fiberchannel Drives (Seagate)in a NetApp Nas... Yes I know that over the years everyone changes model numbers... I am chasing several items to find the cheapest replacements that a user might be able to afford... I also know that if you wish to donate cash towards just hardware there is was way that it could be identified through UCB... So to not make this overly long I will close... Thank You Everyone!
