I say it shouldn't be a problem to breast feed in public. It's not something that's obscene. Now if a person was peeing it would be different.

Especially when it's not aimed toward the third rail.

...

What were we supposed to be talking about again?

Heck, I find it indecent for breastfeeding to be done in public. I also find it indecent to scratch my private areas, pick my nose (especially before a handshake). If it's OK to breastfeed without a small bit of courtesy to others, then I want to wear really short shorts so my fuzzy testes hang out (one on each side, similar to CR's avatar squirrel). After all they aren't sexual (reproductive, not sexual), and improved cooling (just like puters) improve performance (motility, fertility).

On the otherhand, since new regs prevent anyone from bringing ANY liquids on a flight, she had 4 choices:

1) don't go
2) find alternate transport
3) let baby starve
4) go to the john or use blanket.

Ban Breastfeeding Hoax

Is that guy for real? :-O

Then it should not be legal for men having their hands in the pockets of their trousers in public, I think that can give some erotic feelings too. :o)

But it is scientifically proved that there are nerves from the breast nipples that stimulate the nerves to the muscles in the uterus, so it recovers better from the pregnancy and goes back to normal shape and size. This is why the newborn baby is put to the breast to suck right after birth.

If it's an erotic feeling, I don't know? Specially when the uterus has regained it's normal shape and size?

Breast feeding on planes (?). But it may be morphing towards fuzzy testes.

Brainsmashr..thank you for taking the discussion from the closed thread to your own thread. It might be helpful if you renamed it so we know what the topic is. :-)

I wish I understood more about what the Air Stewardess found so offensive. I've breast fed many times on planes. The doctors often recommend it because it stops the painful pressure in the ears for the baby. I think a screaming baby on a plane would be much worse to the other passengers than a baby just doing what is natural. I've breast fed in public many times with both my children up until they were 2 and I've never had so much as a funny look or a complaint. I'm rather baffled by the story.

I do not understand what is so bad about a mother feeding her baby.

The news said the problem came about when she was asked to cover herself with a blanket the stewardess provided and she refused. The stewardess advised her and her husband that if she did not cover up she would be asked to leave the plane. She still refused to cover up and was escorted from the plane, her family followed her off.

You cant ask them to cover up in the State of Vermont.

EDIT: ohh BTY astro..the regulations clearly permit liquids to feed a baby on a flight.

On the Contrary...

If one is offended by a mother breastfeading her baby the simplest solution is to LOOK THE OTHER WAY!

...on the other hand

Get some popcorn and soda ;)

Thank the powers that be there are laws protecting mothers to perform what all mammals on this planet do to survive. I share the same sentiment that there is nothing to be seen because anything interesting is obstructed by the baby's body.

Calling this obscene is ludicrous.

Hi BJ....

I called it indecent, not obscene.

There's a difference between something that's sexually offensive and exposing body parts that would otherwise be covered in a given situation.

Hi BJ....

I called it indecent, not obscene.
And I'm in favor of both indecency and obscenity.

Vulgarity's cool, too.

There's a difference between something that's sexually offensive and exposing body parts that would otherwise be covered in a given situation.

Like a forearm, a shoulder, a face, sexually suggestive abbreviations (see first line).

It's a "societal norm", and considering the abnormalities of society, I'd suggest we'd all get along better by ignoring society altogether.

Ok then I made an error

However you want to call it (breastfeeding)

My response still applies. ;)

What is indecent about this, much less obscene, whether in public or private?

If anyone is aroused by it, they should seek some professional help immediately.

I'd call 911 but Jeremy might answer.

"911, what is the emergency."

"A woman is breast feeding her baby in the airport lounge."

"So what is the emergency?"

"It's indecent, she should be made to stop!"

"Sir, 911 is for emergencies only, is there any life or property
in imminent danger."

"I'm about to have a heart attack!"

Thank you for THAT!!! I'm not sure of the problem that BS has with breastfeeding. I was breastfed as a baby. My two sons were breastfed. I remain a breast baby to this day.

I'm not sure he realizes that plans cannot be dropped because of a hungry baby. Run off to do something as a social outcast to do something that is completely natural.

AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH LOOKING THE OTHER WAY?

EDIT: Just found this clip.
