Message 441595 - Posted: 22 Oct 2006, 4:18:05 UTC

It's been running on my XP machine for over 24 hours. So far it's behaving but I don't like the way it displays pages compared to the IE6. The lettering isn't as crisp on web pages now.

I have multiple browsers (Opera, FF, MS, Netscape) since I do web sites and need to verify they look decent in various browsers. Each browser has things I like and things I don't. Netscape is by far the worst for displaying pages properly in my opinion. Even with the less crisp font display with IE7, it still displays better then NS.

Isn't Netscape W3C compliant? I believe Firefox is.

I don't know what W3C compliant is, but aren't Netscape and Firefox both from Mozilla?

After being behind a hardware and software firewall and getting "Hit" several years ago. I like Siran and others refuse to run "Internet Exploder". And From what I hear it's STILL BROKEN!

Netscape originally was; AOL bought it, so I don't know if it still is from Mozilla, or if AOL has made "changes"...

Firefox is a Mozilla product.

Mozilla.com Link to Firefox

With support links from there to "Mozilla.org"...

This organisation: The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)

I might have to download Netscape and have a play, then vaildate the output through W3C's tools to see if it complies, or I could validate their site!?

The text is fuzzy because of Microsofts decision to turn on ClearType by default in IE7. It can be turned off if you don't like it. Here is a link to a Microsoft blog that talks about the decision IE7 ClearType

I just noticed that MS has started its High Priority push (update) of IE7. So if you DON'T want it, don't blindly accept your MS Updates.

Have you downloaded Internet explorer 7. It will take some time to get used to it.

Is it still in Beta? I downloaded, installed and removed it within 2 hours a few weeks ago.

The term "crap" came to mind.

crap is an understatement, i tried it 2 months ago, just wouldn't install. if they cant get it to install, then it's worse than crap. ;)

Yeah, a few days ago. It sucks.

In IE6 the most-used buttons like the stop, back and forward, etc, were in one place, making it easier to navigate. Now the back and forward buttons are located at the top far left, the stop and refresh buttons are at the far right, and the home button which is a little too small IMO, is at the bottom left and separated from the back and forward buttons by about an inch. It's a bad layout. I mean, think about how inconveniant it would be if the most frequently used buttons in your music player were all located in different places.

Also, the way this browser opens is terrible. Whenever I open a new window there's a delay, and the menu bar and google toolbar appear only after the browser is fully loaded.

I just read in the German Spiegel magazine about rumors that Microsoft will cooperate with Novell in the future. They want to tie together Linux and Windows.

Uh, Oh......
