Hmmm...... People with a wedge in their forward thinking gear room are destined to stay in a stagnant state of mind.

There ARE poor people in this country who are well and truly poor through no fault of their own. These are the people that need and can obtain help in this country.

Then There are the idle poor. These are the people that truly believe that life OWES them everything their feeble minds can dream up. They are the parasites of society that use up valuable resources that should be going to those in the above paragraph!

Instead of complaining about the current group of politicians in office, WE as a collective nation have the right and the ability to change the situation. VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE! Then, before voting for a new group of politicians, it is the RESPONSIBILITY of EVERY citizen to learn as much as they can about the candidates for which they are going to vote. Knowledge IS power.
When you sit idly by and don't do the things you are given the right to do to help yourself, then you need to take a look at how you are living your life! That particular shoe belongs on the foot of anyone it fits!

As I am interested in ideas, I thought I would try and understand where you were coming from. I thought that this would help me.

Then, as usual, you would be wrong.

How about this: make an argument and defend your position.

Just posting the comments of people that agree with you means nothing because it's just a restatment of what you believe.

Hmmm..it seem that Objectivists believe that everything can be worked through using logic..there seems to be a huge lack of understanding of the human brain there...especially as they appear to believe that there is a knowable absolute reality.

Which, of course, is simply in error and a misstatement of the philosophy.

Objectivists believe that individuals need to reason their way through life on their own. However, more importantly, what they believe is that regardless of the conclusions those individuals come to, they do not have the right to impose those conclusions on others by initiating force.

This is against the laws of physics, so it seems odd to base a so called 'logical' philosophy on it. The whole premise of Objectivism seems fatally flawed at it's foundations and almost bordering on cult ideology.

Nope. O'ists would actually prefer that their disciples earn an advanced degree in both physics and philosophy. What you say here is just your own erroneous opinion.

The problem is Sarge, no one under the age of 50 'truly' and 'deeply' understands anything! Did you have a clue when you enlisted?

Well, then, as I am 38, apparently I do not truly/deeply understand anything.
Also, sorry for any confusion, but my handle is not based on a rank. I never served. I have been quite busy serving the world, or trying to, in a very different way. My handle is simply based on my last name.

Similarly, in the US the vast majority of people tolerate differences of opinion in religion, political outlook, etc. This is one of the core American behaviors and is codified in our Constitution.
