I'm here to stay, all I have done is laughed this afternoon at all the sulking posts it made interesting reading.

you're the type of person who he wrote the application for.

Ditto, there are some people who just do not appreciate what others contribute to benefit the whole S@H community. That is their loss.

That might be true for you, but imagine that Seti@Home was a business. To thumb your nose at customers leaving to do business with another company is just simply suicidal; you'd be bankrupt in no time, and your business reputation would be shot. Instead of making derisive comments at your customers that are leaving, you should be listening to them and making some urgent changes immediatley. This project is hemmoraging, more so now that Classic has merged. However, I notice that your investment into the project is minimal a best...you own very few shares of stock.

But its not a business so you can't compare it to one

My "out of date" Pentium 4's HT (socket478) seems to beat the h*ll out of any Pentium EE or AMD X2 when it comes to work per hour per CPU. This doesn't match 'Real Life' bechmarking at all = not good!

You have to really make sure you are comparing similar Angle Ranges and if they are running Cruncher's 5.12.

Just goes to show the mentality of some users, Credit is not a status symbol, it doesn't project you on to a higher throne then anyone else.

So to all those leaving goodbye and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

SETI will carry on without you the work may just take longer to do

and thats with 2 3000+ semprons

my P3 500 did better than that..My XBoxand I added it 8 days ago

why would you not use an optimzed application its not cheating cause it claims the exact same credit as standard app. You seem to be all about the Science with your widespread contributions so why not get more work done in the same amount of time.
I'm not in it for the science...only the competition.

Your credits mean nothing...it's just that you haven't done much science, yet are vocal in the extreme by comparison. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=1011642 I am putting you on ignore...I don't listen to supercilious popinjays.

Credit may not be a status symbol but enhances the competitive human nature in most humans. This in turn causes people to addd more machenes and faster machines. To not think this helps the science is ignorance. People are leaving, not only due to reduced credits but because they get tired of the flaming by the ignorant that goes on. That takes the fun out of the projects. Unless you are doing this for the big paycheck, you would most likely be doing it because it is fun and interesting. Maybe even the science. More is better. People should be encouraged to participate, not leave. Negativity begets negativity.

This is only a test...

The more you go on about credits the more pathetic you sound.

Credits=Science, so your scientific accomplisments for those projects is pathetic, you've only returned one work unit for Seti in the last 30 days. And not much else in the other projects as well. Popinjays do squawk loudly.

@ Stefan...you've returned 16 times more work this month than the popinjay.

And in case anyone hasn't noticed the donations to SSL are drying up fast...only US$ 7,401 for the month of May. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Dogbytes, the graph you posted is rather misleading.

On the surface, it seems to show a DRAMATIC dropoff in active users, with the implication that large numbers have packed-up and left because they're disgusted with how Seti is treating them or others (and that could be right for all I know/can prove).

In actuality, the graph merely shows the tip of the real data. The visible data ranges from 177000 to 191000. The highest values occur from about 14 April thru about 25 April (approximately 188200 users), while the lowest (so far...they may get lower as time passes) are June 1 & 2 at slightly under 178400 (call it 178000 to round it off).

This works out to: (188200 - 178000) / 188200 = 0.054198 (5.4198%) loss in active users. That's 10200 active users--A lot (especially if the trend continues), but not the end of the world.

Just trying to keep things in perspective.
