right, i'm sure a few of you remember this thread lol, it was quite a monster

i've finally got round to having a go and helping with the web code, but i'm having trouble working out how to actually get the source files

i know they're available via CVS and eclipse was suggested to me as a cvs client
but it appears to be a full SDK, which i don't need, i just need a CVS client to be able to get the source files, and commit them back into the CVS once i'm done
unless eclipse is a good cvs client, in which case i'll stick with it

also some instructions or a pointer to some beginner documentation on how to use a CVS client would be great too, many thanks for any help

Try WinCVS at http://www.wincvs.org/

You will find downloads of just the binary if you choose, and a normal type installation. Once in, head to the Admin - Command Line menu choice and then use the directions found in the BOINC DEV area as to what to put in the command line to get the version(s) you want.

ok, already had wincvs
tried running the command, but it returned an error

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous:@alien.ssl.berkeley.edu:/home/cvs/cvsroot checkout boinc
cvs [checkout aborted]: Error reading from server alien.ssl.berkeley.edu: 0

***** CVS exited normally with code 1 *****

are there any settings i need to change?

right, so after several hours of trial and error i worked out that i need to login to the server first, before i can checkout any files

but it's asking me for a password (yes, for the anonymous account lol), but i have no idea what the password is, any ideas?
