Hello Cliff,

This is the account details of that user.

What you should need to do is linking to Classic stats of the account Cliff Yuill, Sr with the one of the account of Cliff, user ID 8266757.

You can do this by using this form. In the upper part you will need to use the Classic e-mail address of Cliff Yuill, Sr and in the bottom part the details of the Cliff account and use the button "link to existing account".

Once that is done, the Classic stats will be linked to your other account, Cliff. You can then always change the name of that account.

I didn't realize you could re-link an account. That would be the best option then.

Yes this is perfectly possible. I tried it some time ago with another account I have here only for test purposes.
I brought my Seti Classic stats over from one account to the other and back without any problem.

The only thing is you need to wait for the next stats update to see the change in effect.

I see NO "link to existing account" option on the form after entering my correct e-mail address. Under cross project ID there is this #
c73aa13be325ac375fed0907d581ec9c
To the left it says: "used in exported accounting data" in blue. Do I click on that?? And then what?

Hello Cliff,

You need to use this form.

I DID use that form and entered my SETI at home Classic account and entered other info called for on down the page. After entering my account the page that comes up is MY ACCOUNT. Once again I don't see the option of "link to existing account" Sorry I'm so dense on this. I'm still missing something somewhere.

I really apologize for my denseness in this matter and I SUPER appreciate you guys trying to help me. I'll log on later this afternoon and check in. Perhaps I need to uninstall this little bugger and start all over. Or ... just give it up as a bad job. Thanks again.

Don't give up. You have 2 accounts, one called Cliff Yuill, Sr, one called Cliff. The Cliff one is the one that is doing the work. You are doing work just fine.

I encourage you to try and make Cliff your main account, since that is the one doing the work. Other here can help you better than I, but I am just trying to show you that you are important to the project. Everyone here is!

Good luck with the issues, and hope it becomes clear sometime soon.

Cliff, you have two accounts in BOINC, and that's what you should prevent.
You have 'Cliff Yuill, Sr' and 'Cliff'. Now, your BOINC seems to be crunching under the account 'Cliff', while you are writing in here under the accont 'Cliff Yuill, Sr'. AND - your Seti Classic account is attached to this latter. The two accounts must have different mail addies, BTW.

Now this is a bit of a mess and you should straighten it out.

My suggestion is to use the account 'Cliff', as your BOINC is already crunching and possibly has even delivered results.

So now, what have you to do?

  • Log out of the website here (NOT YET - read this post first...)
  • Log in again under the account of 'Cliff'. Of course you must know which mail address this account is registered under and have the respective account key or password. You surely know these things as you had to use them when attaching BOINC to Seti.
  • Do what Ageless and Thierry say to attach the Classic stats to the 'Cliff' account. But do all that under the 'Cliff' account!

When all went well, you'll see in 'your account' (still as 'Cliff', mind!) your Classic stats.
If so, you have successfully concentrated under this account and can forget the other (Cliff Yuill, Sr.).

If needed, you can alter almost anything of that account to suit you, including the Nickname and the mail addy.

Greybeard .. (so is mine ... for at least 50 years!)I cannot find any info on a SETI account to "cliff". I only have one E-mail address for SETI as far as I know. Why can't I get this darn thing corrected under my old account of Cliff Yuill, Sr? Or .. dump the whole thing and start over. I hate to loose the WU's I have logged with Scotland SETI, but I'm getting nowhere with this at this time. Maybe if I started all over, it would work for me. Right now I can only get enough WU's to last a day and hate to fiddle with download every day. I guess my comment is why fiddle with it when it ain't broke .. but I do understand that BOINC is supposedly an improvement. I do see quite a few other posts that are having trouble with it. Maybe they're as dense as I am.

Thanks Ruth. I'll go over it and see what I can learn. Wish this was as simple as the old Classic version. It's driving me nuts!!!

Well, Cliff, you DID register this other account. And we can't tell you the mail address of it. You'll have to remember yourself.

But I can help youin finding out its account key:
In your BOINC directory (normally it's C:\\program files\\BOINC) you'll find a file called 'account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml'. Open this file by doubleclicking it. The second line of the file looks somewhat like this:
<authenticator>aa123456789a12a123a1234a12345aa1</authenticator>
The string between <authenticator> and </authenticator> is your account key for the 'Cliff' account.

Once you have retrieved this key and remembered the mail addres you could have used when attaching to Seti, do exactly what I wrote in my precedent posting.

The Seti Classic stats will then pass over to the 'Cliff' account and from then on only use that account, either for working with BOINC or logging on to this website.

:-)= Greybeard

Oh, BTW, you've got a margin of some years to me. So perhaps you were in fact the better 'greybeard'...
