Linked from the main page: A Brief History of SETI@Home

The last paragraph:
Thanks to everyone listed above - and, of course, to the millions of dedicated, enthusiastic and patient SETI@home participants - for making SETI@home Classic what it was. It didn't find ET, but it was the largest computation in history, it revolutionized scientific computing, it brought science into the homes of millions of people around the world, and it increased global awareness of the methods and goals of SETI.

May Classic Rest In Peace.

Now, if only I could hook up my old Classic credit from my Purdue time...

Yes, I've been given hints... I've gotta look into that this weekend. :)
Thanks..!

It was thanks to Seti@Home Classic that I found out about distributed computing.

And to me Grid/Network/Distributed Computing is the best 'project' of them all.

Improve BOINC, and you improve all the projects that run on it.

Perfect!

Yeah, these pics are cool, specially the one of the screenshot of Sagan stopped!

And good to see the guys taking time off to celebrate a little! :-) Well deserved!

Nice photos. Thanks for the tour. I had no idea that there was that much equipment.

I live in the bay area and you would think you would have lots of good views of the bay. I hardly ever get to see it. It appears that you have one of the best views around.

Speaking of "in memoriam", how about a minute remembering the people who aren't with us anymore to make the transition to seti-boinc? I'm thinking of Roelof who created SetiSpy. I LOVED that little program! Cute and fun. I wonder what add-ons he might have come up with if he was still with us now? Even though I never met or corresponded with him, he made a big difference to my Classic experience. Thanks Roelof.
[edit]Plus, of course, always remembering Carl Sagan. I think the anniversary of his passing into star stuff has just gone by too.[/edit]

For Those, that have made differences in Our Lives Large and Small... Each One Touched Our Life!

In Remberance... The Toast

Seti Classic is Dead... Long Live Seti Classic and those that Opened Our Minds and Touched Our Life. They have Gone before us! Seti Classic is Dead... Long Live Seti BOINC!

Regards

Al
