For the past couple days, when I turn on my computer, boinc.exe is not starting automatically. That also means that whenever I try to start the GUI Boinc manager, it gets a message that it can't connect to the local host. I upgraded to the latest version of BOINC and that did not help. Nothing has changed since it stopped working, and I am not running any firewalls. What could be causing this? In addition, yesterday I manually started boinc.exe at a command prompt and was then able to get the manager to connect. Today, even after starting boinc.exe at a command prompt, the manager can't connect. |

You probably have 'Billie's Firewall Issue'. Last MS uptdate tinkered at the XP firewall, reactivated it and made it block the boinc processes again. Make sure that boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe are no more blocked by any firewall. :-)= Greybeard All about BOINC: BOINC-Wiki (by Paul D. Buck) |

You probably have 'Billie's Firewall Issue'. Like I said, I am not running any firewalls, Windows firewall included. |

Maybe thats your problem, you are not running any firewall. I don't think so. I wasn't running a firewall when it was working. Like I said, nothing changed on the computer from Friday when it worked to Monday when it didn't. |

Perhaps your BOINC installation became corrupted on your hard drive somehow. Why don't you try uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC, making sure to remove all BOINC related files in the \\Program Files\\BOINC folder after the uninstall to ensure a complete removal. |

Today it is working as it should. Again, I didn't change anything between yesterday and today. It's very peculiar. |

You may have a look in this thread. Thanks! That answered my question, as today it wasn't working properly again. Turns out ccApp.exe is also listening on port 1043. That explains it. Thanks again! |
