There was a mention of Seti@Home t-Shirts on the old thread.

I'm in. Large, in black (AKA Henry Ford, any colour, as long as it's black). Seti@home logo on Front, Boinc on back.....

Please point me to the relavent secure page to order mine.

It will no doubt Piss the GF off, and she will refuse to go out with me when I wear it. Plus point. Can make her stay at home when I want some personal time out and about....

Foamy is "Lord and Master".

Byron, my dear friend! :-)

Thank you so much for your donations! You are the one person with the biggest heart around here, and I'm proud of being called a friend by you!

We are all born with different abilities, and even you say, you haven't done it big monetarily, you have had a good life, which is more than you can say about many people, who become rich in money, but poor in soul! You have your inner values, which can't be taken away from you, where the people, who have money, well, we all know that money comes, and money goes!

I'll at every time prefer a person with a rich inner life, as you have, than a superficial person, intelligent or not!

And nobody should flame you for being the person you are! A person with a beautiful mind and soul! Byron, my FRIEND! :-)

to all .. my Dear friends ....... I apologize ..... when I wrote that post ....
it was late at night and ...... and I was felling ... very ... fatigued ... lonely ... sad ... and ... depressed
it was kind of selfish of me because ......
... I just have to look ..... at all the .... poor people in the World .....today ....
... who are suffering from .... Hurricanes ... Wars .... Starvation .. and ... terrible sickness
to see how lucky .... I am ...

I should have remember this Poem ...

nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Best Regards to all ...... of our Great ..... SETI@home Community !

**Sorry to be off topic as well**

Byron, its good to see you back my friend. You need something give a buzz. I'm a good ear. :-)

**Back on Topic**

I'm hoping this next check I can send something to SETI, been crunching since 1999 and haven't yet. All these bills keep coming in and sucking the money right out of my wallet. At least my power bill is paid, so I can keep on crunching. :-) Take care all.

Maybe if Berkeley had a goal for a purchase it might help spur more donations. I mean if I knew I was donating toward a UPS or a new CPU or a new 4 gig memory chip or a new terrabyte scsi harddrive or what ever then maybe people will donate more often. Berkeley could even set up a list and let people donate towards a specific piece of hardware or generically, whatever they wished too. The list would then have to be updated but that could all be set up as easily as the stars are now. I mean wouldn't it be nice to know that we need x number of dollars for a new harddrive and we are only $10.00 away from getting it?!
This generic donating may be part of the hangup, people just don't trust everyone anymore.

That would lead to a whole new arguement in the forum:

"Your paying how much for that server? I can get it $400 less than that. Why should I donate when your not looking for the best price and wasting my money".

We all know it would happen ;)

Or "You're buying an XYZ-123? Everyone knows the PDQ-555 kicks XYZ's butt on every metric that matters, for the SAME COST!!!!!!! Why should I donate money if you're just buying junk?"

It'd happen, all right. Within minutes.

Almost $6,000 now. We may still have a chance to beat the record from March 2004. :)

I will donate some at the end of this month.

Bump! .oO(We can't have this thread on page 2, can we?)
Are you tired of the outages please donate to the project.
Thank you!

Went to donate today, and I'm getting "The page cannot be displayed" on the page https://colt.berkeley.edu:444/urelgift/seti.html
Got there by clicking on the donate link from my account page, and then on "click here to make a donation".

Anyone have another link, or is something broken?

I just tried it and it's working for me now (went in from the "Donate" link on the home page, but ultimately ended up at the same URL).

Actually, it is more likely that Matt Lebofsky has not yet recieved the confirmation email from Central Campus regarding Siran's donation. I recently donated $100.00, and when I went to view my list of recent donations, the database server listed me as not having made any donations. There is an email address to write to with questions regarding your donations, which is donors@ssl.berkeley.edu. I recieved a reply from Matt, stating that Central Campus is evidently not sending him all the email confirmations, so he had me forward him the confirmation email I recieved when I made the donation, and he took care of the problem and added my donation to the database.

Regards, Daniel.

My ISA Server 2003 doesn't allow to open Donation page on port 444. The exact message is:

[b]Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed [/b]

Technical Information (for Support personnel)
[list]
* Error Code: 502 Proxy Error. The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. ISA Server is not configured to allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests. (12204)
* IP Address: 192.168.0.1
* Date: 29.09.2005 15:26:55
[/list]

Does anybody know how to configure ISA for SSL port 444, or is there an alternative address with standard 443 port?

For some reason I get a "404 no site found" with the URL you posted.

it's because BBCode added extra http:// prefix, so the complete link became as http://https://... The right link was https://colt.berkeley.edu:444/urelgift/seti.html

My firewall log says the remote address is 128.32.25.45 on port 444.

Yes, this is the right IP for colt.berkeley.edu

Copy and paste this direct URL for the online gift form:

https://colt.berkeley.edu:444/egiving/MainForm.ASP

Well, it also uses 444 port on the same server, just another page. Surely it gives the same ISA error. Any ideas?

Couple of things:

* Sorry about this 444 port stuff. This is all handled by central campus, so there's nothing I can do about it. Yet another reason to somehow get beyond the legal/bureaucratic issues and go a PayPal system working. We shall see. Don't hold your breath.

* As for the lost stars, it is true that I am not getting all the confirmations from campus. Not sure why, and it is incredibly frustrating. Once again, a PayPal system would not have this problem. If you are missing your star, please e-mail the donors@ssl.berkeley.edu address with a note to that effect and include a copy of the e-mail confirmation you have received from campus.

* That old donation chart is a bit misleading. Most of those "bumps" are not due to donations by regular users but by corporate sponsors who used the credit card donation mechanism to send us funds. The only real SETI@home user bumps are the one in February of 2002, and this month. The bump in 2002 was when the campus ran out of bandwidth, and since SETI@home was using 33% of the entire campus pipe, we were kindly forced to get our own ISP, and users stepped up to donate money to help expedite the matter. This month, obviously, was due to the green stars. We hope for a much much bigger bump in the next month or so when we send out a mass e-mail. At any rate, this month is winning for the most user donations since January 2002. Thank you!!!

* I don't think anybody mentioned the hardware donation list yet, which is linked to from the donation page. These are but some of the things on our wish-list:

Unfortunately PayPal doesn't and even isn't going to work in Russia, I don't know why. Maybe they're afraid of terrible Russian hackers? :)

You could try opening a PayPal account and transfer funds from your bank to it. See if that works for you.
