Now that "jogeur" has posted in this thread, I can post here too. Notice that I am not using the "plus/minus" in my post. Is this some kind of undocumented code? |

And I can post in any thread yet my mundayweb sig doesn't display properly. It seems this latest change has caused people to have their own unique problem. Might make it really difficult to track down. |

After posting about the "A message concerning plus/minus voting" thread in the "More forum problems-Rob" thread, I could no longer post in that thread. In this post I spelled out "plus/minus" but I didn't in the "A message . . ." thread. Very strange. Definately a unique problem. You can rate but you're not allowed to talk about it. :) |

tried with IE, after clicking in "post reply", after a time, returns (in portuguese) "cannot show page, " at bottom, "server not found or DNS error" tried with firefox, after clicking in "post reply", after a time, returns (in portuguese) "not containing data" tried to disable norton internet security, too, but is the same why is possible to post in cafe but not in NC? what is the difference? any idea, please? |

Here on this computer I can post in this thread, I see the "+/-" that seems to mess up my other machine, and as you see, I can type the symbols "+/-" all I like, with no problem. Both boxes use Windows XP (the other is XP Pro) and the latest version of IE. |

Well my sig is now fixed thanks to Daniel Schaalma with some weird bbcode! :) Tom, do you have Firefox to experiment with the +/-? |

Both boxes use Windows XP (the other is XP Pro) and the latest version of IE. I've been wondering if part of this maybe it's how we have something set on IE. A coding change with the board is triggering it, that's for sure but since it seems to be random among people, I think settings have something to do with it as well. I have my IE set completely different from the default settings it comes with but haven't had any problems prior to this. Some sites I do have problems but it's usually scripting or java related that is blocked in the Internet zone. Even in the Trusted zone (and these fora are in trusted) I turned off some settings I didn't want being accessed. I haven't gotten into customizing the settings for Opera or Netscape yet which is probably why they work in these fora without any problems for me. |

and the difference cafe seti/number crunching? When I use IE now, I have problems with certain threads in all three of the forums. In my situation, some threads load up fine and I can post to them while other threads are missing avatars, the +/- graphics and I get a 404 error when I try to post regardless to if I'm in NC, Cafe or Science |

I believe the problems are due to some IE funkiness tied in with some stuff Janus has been working on for a while to internationalize the forum code... The "File not found" error was due, I noted, to an extra "+AF8" in the URL. After a small bit of googling, I found this page: http://wiki.complexfission.com/twiki/bin/view/Info/AF8FileNotFoundError ...which pretty much explains it's an IE bug, I believe related to the lack of a doctype or charset declaration on any of the Boinc pages. I've alerted Janus and David to the issue... hopefully they'll be able to patch it up in the near future. If not, I'll hit it a week from now, when I have more than a few minutes free time to work on such things. :-) Rob |

I'm slowly getting weaned off IE here so this probably is a good thing :P ![]() To truly explore, one must keep an open mind... |

I've noticed the code is all funky on Orbit. I'm guessing html is now invalid at all boinc project websites? |

I've noticed the code is all funky on Orbit. I'm guessing html is now invalid at all boinc project websites? Orbit just synched the code to the current version a couple of days ago so they match the coding on the Seti site. Other projects haven't done it yet. Predictor has already stated they have no plans on upgrading at the present time. ![]() To truly explore, one must keep an open mind... |
