No, the real point is that a star (no quotes) does NOT indicate a donation to the project. It indicates money donated, but not the true meaning of the progect - crunching time.

....

Matt was right when he called you a moron the other day. I say you are totaly ILLOGICAL, ILLOGICAL, ILLOGICAL....

You think than someone crunching for the project as they can is less importantant than someone who makes a $0.50 donation? That's clearly what you are saying here! ....

Clearly, you haven't the capability to comprehend what one says. Only a MORON would say that I said something that I did not say.

I, and you, and most everyone else here [excluding those with multiple accounts with which to carry out their nefarious deeds] are "donating" computer CPU cycles to the project. Some of us, with a deeper belief in the science of the project, have taken it upon ourselves to "donate" monitarily. That, in and of itself, does NOT say that "donating" funds is "more important" than one who just crunches. It shows that we are willing to help the project remain alive. "Donating" CPU cycles, does not pay the bills at UCB.

Now, what crap are you going to come up with to counter that? None, I hope.... You have no logic that counters mine....

The system is hardly perfect as you pointed out with your $0.50 example... I see in the not-too-distant future color-coded stars for different levels of monetary donation, maybe gears for donated equipment, etc. It may come to a point of including color-coded hourglasses for time-on-project and a contest to see who can come up with the best geometric representation of a credit.

Why not just list the exact ca$h amount next to credit amount.

And, MY point is that a "real" donation comes from deep within ones pockets, no matter how much they can afford. NOT from what ones computer can do.... Any dolt can supply CPU cycles to the project. It takes someone who REALLY believes in the project to dig deep....

As does taking that money and upgrading my computer with it, thereby increasing the amount of work it does for the project (every project.)

It's simple.. Is your $0.50 donation more important than others "100,000 hours" of computing time?

Think about it in relation to the goal of the project. I'm not here to get a green star (no quotes) after my sig....

Maybe somebody should start a thread about other icons they'd like by their name. Seriously: We had credit icons next to names on the classic site. What are people's thoughts/ideas?

Not that we would be able to implement certain things (that were too database intensive, for example). But still worth asking.

I just knew you were going to spew more crap. You just CANNOT understand anything can you. Didn't you say that you were "edumacated"? With this drivel, you don't sound too "edumacated".

When I made my monitary donations, there were no "stars". I did NOT donate to get any "star". And, why have you now stated that my donation was $0.50? Seems to me, that when this discussion started [not that you're discusing anything] you were the one saying, "if I donate $0.50, blah, blah, blah....".

Why don't you go troll somewhere else.... Off SETI....

Send $0.25 to seti boinc and get a star, and use the rest to upgrade your sytems to donate more completed work!

Matt.. Seems this would have been a good question before you added the green star. Now it just looks like how Fema is doing on the gulf coast! (too little, too late)

You are clearly lost. Here's the $0.25 I would have donated to seti/boinc - use it to buy a clue.

The Green star (no quotes) is CLEARLY a joke when it comes to what hase been donated to this project by MANY (and to seti classic)

Send money to Katrina Relief. That can make a differnce. The same amount to Seti boinc won't mean squat - but you'll get a green star!
