You are offending your old users!!!! yours sincerely m.slunsky Your old units are not lost, they will always be a part of your profile: SETI@home classic workunits as of 15 March 2005 6,687 SETI@home classic CPU time as of 15 March 2005 57,506 hours Note that your credit is current as of March 15, and it will be updated to reflect final totals when classic shuts down in 1-3 months. The classic credit and BOINC credit cannot be merged because they use a different system. SETI Classic was wonderful in its day, but that day is gone. Soon it would not be able to do the science that needs to be done. We do need BOINC to continue to contribute. Here's an Installation Guide. Try the Wiki for other questions. |

You are offending your old users!!!! yours sincerely m.slunsky I'm with Jason. While not having been in the system as long as he, I've put 7 computers on this task, in great part because I could see easily the number of units completed, and that as a comparrison with all users, and those who were in my starting class. It gave me a sense of satisfaction to see that I was contributing to something. I get no such sense from the "new improved" seti@home. I'm curious to know how much, if any, thought went into the "perceived value" your volunteers would receive out of this upgrade. Mark |

I think the task distribution here at Boinc works fine: The project teams does the science, the application coding, and they deliver the raw data for the statistics. They even include some rudimentary statistics on the site as well. The eager community delivers all kind of statistics, banners, competition, gadgets...you name it, it's probably already there. You are offending your old users!!!! yours sincerely m.slunsky Seems to me that you ought to find some way to convert Classic credits into BOINC credits. Some kind of average, something......I know that the 2500 CC's and 13000+ CPU hours I've contributed don't set any records, but I see 146 BOINC "Credits" and I'm thinking, why bother?? Sorry, but I'm pissed..... |

I don't see my 'classic' statistics in my profile at all! Look here! SETI@home member since 17 May 1999 edit: As I never crunched Classic myself, I can't see it in my own account, but I think it has to be there as well. Do you see them, when you hit the YOUR ACCOUNT in the top line? Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |
