wait paitently ... this is common after an outage... it takes a day or so to get back in the groove ... there are 20 million of us all trying to get back in at once ... |

Not 20 million, but less than half the active user base at classic. (100k+?) And classic has been down during the same period (though it seems there was no outage notification on that website....) |

I have the same problem I'm able to download work units and work on them but they are not uploading. My queue is beginning to fill..... After the outage at the labs to add the new UPS system there will be a flood of requests from all the clients trying to upload and download. Your BOINC client will automatically back off trying to upload if the server is busy. Fear not it will kepp retrying at intervals and your results will get uploaded. |

Yip, at the time of posting: 153,471 users with 337,877 hosts. Average of 2.2 hosts per user. From Boinc stats: http://www.boincstats.com/ |

Average of 2.2 hosts per user. That means I'm dead on with the average. Both my P4 1.8 and Athlon XP2200+ count as one each, and my OLD P3-500 (which is only UP sometimes) counts as .2 hosts. LOL |

Hmmm, well, no way you are going to convince me to be "average" ... :) Actually, I just added one more to get to a nice round 8 ... Next go round I may drop one off the end though ... I still have the dodgy 2.8 GHz single threaded CPU at the low end ... soon as I can rehost the RAID drive I have there ... Actually, I was also thinking to make that a Linux testbed while I have it ... but first I have to get a bigger RAID 5 drive to take the place of the one I have ... I have been looking at Lacie ... the 1.6T drive looks nice ... would give me about 1.2T worth of space ... anyone have experience with a Lacie RAID? They are advertising a newer version (to go on sale early July? and it is not out yet??) that is supposed to be faster than the older one ... I have a Firewire 800 drive on the PowerMac and it "feels" just a touch slower than the internal drives so, as a repository it would be fine ... then I can rehost a couple of the smaller 250G dirives I have for super critical back ups ... |

According to Seti Stats there are a shade over 152,000 users, of whome 41% are active (have had granted credit in the last week), IE just under 63,000. Also, there are just over 338,000 hosts, out of which 32% are active (same) which I make to be a tad over 108,000. Now to me thats between 1/4 & 1/3 of the active users in Classic. make of this what you will. Foamy is "Lord and Master". (Oh, + some Classic WUs too.) |

Not nice you naughty person, you left out just a small but improtant piece of info..... Note: On February 6, 2001, we decided to change the definition of "active user" from a user who has returned at least one result in the past 14 days to a user who has returned at least one result in the past 28 days. This is because version 3.03, which became mandatory on February 1, 2001, takes significantly longer to process, and result times began falling beyond the 14-day window. This is from Classic stats page..... Semper Eadem So long Paul, it has been a hell of a ride. Park your ego's, fire up the computers, Science YES, Credits No. |

Not nice you naughty person, you left out just a small but improtant piece of info..... Sorry, but I made the data I was posting Crystal Clear. It's about the data posted on SetiStats, a 3rd party site. What's your point though? Foamy is "Lord and Master". (Oh, + some Classic WUs too.) |

Not nice you naughty person, you left out just a small but important piece of info..... And what is the active number and how was it determined.....You only gave half the equation. Oooo, I feel better for this thread. I had something like 40 to upload, 30 of which went within an hour of Berkeley comming up, 24+ hours later I still have 10 stuck. I think I can look forward to them being gone in the morning. |

From the technical news ( sorry if this has already been posted ) July 13, 2005 - 22:00 UTC Around noon today the master science database server rebooted itself due to a fatal memory upset. This may have been caused by a kernel bug (as evidenced by certain signatures in the logs), and we are currently applying a patch that may prevent this from happening again. We already did some initial checking of the database and found that it survived the reboot, but once the machine is patched we have to do more robust checking of the tables before we can restart the splitters and the assimilator. |

Is everyone still waiting on the uploading? I have only been able to upload a couple, and since I keep crunching, the pile gets bigger. How long is it before a WU expires? - cJ |
