You know CA, you're not too far from the truth there. When I lived up there, in the '70s, we would get news about a week late or so. With todays technology and instant communications, I believe the news is much more current now. I do like your graphic though.... Fits ZimmpleBrain.... >:-) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Thanks Mr. Vulcan....... You Know there is a lot of good our country does and if PZ constantly focuses on the negative, well I consider it a form of terrorism and just plain UNAmerican. Maybe PZ and My States former Governor should join forces...... Mmmm That gives me an Idea... I'll be back.... |

[font='courier, courier new']When does SETI Classic shut down? Not soon enough for me.... Maybe we could get the devs to change their posting policy to [No Computer Attached, NO Posting Allowed]. >:-) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Ignore might have a better effect if it would completely block the ignored and not put in the curiosity building link to the ignored's post. Even with people doing partial quotes, the temptation to read the whole post would not be there. And getting it to show would consist of modification to ones preferences, giving more reason NOT to view the post [too much hassle]. Could it work? Right now if I burn the flag in the middle of my street it's called free speech. If instead I burn a pile of leaves or trash I'd be cited/arrested. Maybe I'm protesting landfills. Who knows. But is this fair? me@rescam.org |

Eminent domain backed By Jeremy Boren TRIBUNE-REVIEW Friday, June 24, 2005 A divided Supreme Court ruled Thursday that local governments may seize people's homes and businesses against their will for private development in a decision anxiously awaited in communities where economic growth often is at war with individual property rights. The 5-4 ruling -- assailed by dissenting Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as handing "disproportionate influence and power" to the well-heeled in America -- was a defeat for Connecticut residents whose homes are slated for destruction to make room for an office complex. They had argued that cities have no right to take their land except for projects with a clear public use, such as roads or schools, or to revitalize blighted areas. As this is a long article, here's the link: http://pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/trib/pittsburgh/s_347106.html This is a sad day for any individual that owns property as what essentially has happened is that you no longer own your property per say. It's at the mercy of your local government as to if they feel they can do a better job developing your property than you can. If the local government thinks they can get more tax revenue out of your property by taking it and giving it to someone else, your out. |

I have always failed to understand how these flag burning morons can consider an ACTION speech. In my book [my 1920 page Websters] speech IS words coming from ones mouth. There is nothing in the very long definition stating that an ACTION is speech. It'll be hell for anyone I catch burning MY COUNTRIES flag, or any countries flag for that matter. It's just not right. EDIT: Maybe I could call beating the crap out of a flag burning moron, FREEDOM of SPEECH >;-) /EDIT: CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. What right does any local gov have to someones land for profit. I wonder, does this also apply to property owned by the very wealthy? Don't think so. |
