What exactly is the "select computer" option? ----- |

> What exactly is the "select computer" option? > You can type in the name of another computer on your network, and access the BOINC client on that PC. Not sure if you need to configre the remote access config file for whats allowed as I already had mine setup for BOINCVIEW on all my PCs here. Its kinda a pain to use still, because it would be nice if it had a Recently accessed computer list, or a browse setting, or some kinda memory. I can't remember what all the computers here are called! BOINC WIKI Overclockers.com's Forum |

If you double click at the divide it will automatically resize itself also. ----- |

A cool feature that I just discovered is the tooltip buble showing the project(s) currently crunched and thier progress if you hover the mouse ove BOINC icon in the sys.tray. By the way, the real problem with column width is that it is not saved, so the next time you start the frontend, you'll have to make the ajustments again... --- Everything is just A Question of Physics |

Installed and seems to be working fine. How do I configure to connect to other computers on my network that are also running 4.25? You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

This version seems to have lost the ability of sorting by clicking on a column header. |

Same result using your command line. I am running with administrator priveleges on W2K Server. I have uninstalled 4.19. Have tried to run it from a network drive and from my C: drive. Never gets past the error screen. |

> Is anyone running 4.25 on Windows 98SE? > Yep, gotta say I am a big fan. Big congrats to David, Rom and all others involved. Fer sure not fully polished…but well along the right track. Biggest trouble for me is Win98 can’t close BOINC Manager properly on reboot or shutdown. There are workarounds for this. Shut down BOINC first or wait 15sec for this familiar dialog box: and end task here. |

Okidok, just tried V4.25 as well. Result : - GUI_RPC via BOINCview does not work for me anymore - it is more colorific, but actually displays less, while using (wasting) more space (the non-hideable Tooltips are terrible, who on earth did that?) - Exiting the Program seems to take forever, I gave it like 5x Exit Command, before it yielded and actually exited Bottom line : I don't like it. My "BOINC Manager" for my entire Network is BOINCview, and this so-called new V4.25 "Manager" doesn't even remotely come close to the minimum functionality I need. |

BTW, atleast one nice thing is error-messages is now coloured red, so easier to spot any problems. :) |

From what I've been readingin here, I think I'll hold off on installing 4.25 for a while. 4.19 is working just fine here. Perfessor If it Ain't broke, don't fix it!! |

> Boinc 4.25 dont run in guest acount For Observador from Málaga, please put your comment in our BOINC forum in Astroseti and you will get all the assistance you need in Spanish By the way I already have the 4.25 and it is running with the 5 projects with no problems so far, for the last 10 hours. Only comment is that the new left hand window which falls under projects and work is too big, could it be possible to reduce it in width? For the rest, yes unless you uninstall first, you will not be able to load 4.25 correctly . Be sure to save the projects files, just in case. Patience is a virtue. |

> Okidok, just tried V4.25 as well. > > Result : > - GUI_RPC via BOINCview does not work for me anymore I suspect this could be solved by a read up on the boincview information pages.. 1. Boincview 1.0 Release candidate should be used for 4.2x BOINC install. 2. BOINC applied for, and finally got their own unique number to use for communication ports on ethernet not so long ago. Before that time they had been using port 31415 ;). So, if you just install BOINC 4.25, and tell boincview to contact a machine you were able to talk to before, it cannot, until... You change GUI_RPC_PORT within boincview for the host you want to talk to (again). |

Maybe the best thing for all of us would be for BOINC to dump this dreadful BoincMgr and officially adopt BoincView. ;) Then the devs could concentrate on getting the daemon right. A cross-platform version of BoincView would be nice, though. ;) Be lucky Neil |
