Noticing some changes to the look of the board. Looks nice here on Opera (browser). Wraps well to the page and font is a nice size now. Cheers. cRunchy |

Looks like HTML 3 to me - no color and table border="2". Not to say that it's bad, but... .o0(Don't know how to finish that sentence...) |

I guess I mean on a comparative level to what it has been like. As not everyone uses Opera like I does sometimes boards look cr@p but this one looks nice. Now a www.phpbb.com et al style board of course would look totally fabulicious but thats another story. cRunchy |

Now some useful emoticons and an easier way to link to URLs in here and we're off to getting a mature BBS. :) |

I don't think they ever intended this to be a mature BBS. And I would put all my money down (well, that's enough to buy a Pepsi and a candy bar) that they didn't want to take valuable time away from SETI and Boinc to work on the message boards. I agree with you both; however, the board would be a secondary priority when working on coding problems. The first is the basic BOINC package. One they get the servers and other back end problems running without problems then I'm sure they would LOVE to dedicate some time to the messages boards. As Golden Goose pointed out, the message boards do add a marketing value to the over all system, and the BOINC admins are pushing that, also. But, in the current setting, Rom is up to his eyeballs with trying to find and squish all the little nasty critter bugs in the core client (and doing a valiant job, if I might add.) So, by virtue of the coders having to work on coding moderation tools into the message board, the core client gets less attention, thus slows down the whole development of the BOINC core client. Sanger, you are correct, it does not take much CPU time on our computers to chat on the boards, but it does take time for ROM to code in changes into the boards, as opposed to the core client. Have I talked myself around in enough circles? I feel like the dog who has to walk around a spot on the floor several times before laying down. LOL Jim |

I have a sneaky feeling that these changes in the website might well have caused the Seti Firefox extension to stop working :( <img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=268&prj=1&trans=off" /><img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=268&prj=4&trans=off" /> |
