Friedday without being fried or chicken.

The old 1st avenue bridge was out yesterday, someone had a head on collision, closed until further notice. This bridge was built in 1930.

Barstow is keeping its First Avenue Bridge closed as it assesses the damage a Wednesday head-on car crash did to the already problematic piece of infrastructure.

The crash occurred between drivers taking the same curve from opposing directions sometime around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. It left both cars totaled and pinned against barriers on each side of the bridge that visibly buckled slightly against the impact.

It’s blowing pretty good outside. The airport says 24mph with gusts to 36. So how close is the win. Are we there yet?

Well the clouds finally turned up, but will there be any rain out of them?

Cheers.

Off to Tahoe Donne, 5 feet of snow and a clear cool day. Alright, cold, -3f. But I will dress warmly. Funny on Wednesday I was in Newport Beach and it was 80f. California does have it all.

Didn't get very far. About 30 min out I got stopped by traffic. A major accident with over 20 cars closed several key roads. I sat 2 hours before I was able to turn around and head home.

I'm sorry to hear about your aborted trip Carlos. :-(

Meanwhile it has reached 20C here already as those storms that woke me up last night only left 10mm (YTD:21mm) behind for all their noise, though more is expected today along with a 28C max, and 79mm is required to get to our January average.

After I finish this coffee it'll be time to throw another BBQ chook carcass into a boiler of water for another soup creation.

Cheers.

Now of course a volcano went off, near Fiji and Samoa and Tonga @ a newly created island...

This satellite image taken by Himawari-8, a Japanese weather satellite, and released by the agency,
shows an undersea volcano eruption near the Pacific nation of Tonga on Saturday.

Well only time will tell now how my Asian style BBQ chook goes. It's just sitting ATM for all the flavours to blend and settle as I enjoy a few beers while watching the cricket (and the weather as the temp sits at a very muggy and overcast 26C (feels like 27C).

[edit] The big worry with that island Vic that it could all collapse back into the sea and cause a possibly bigger Tsunami. We still have ongoing Tsunami warnings running here.

Cheers.
