The threat came after Twitter added fact-check links to his tweets for the first time.

Well it's about bloody time, but they should've done that ages ago, as he's the greatest source of fake news around.

What the issue is, only a tiny fraction of the world thinks the same as the alt-right, so none of these dozens of sites has any viral action. They fail. Never mind no one wants to advertise on them because of their message and tiny viewership.

In the USA. Private, non Governmental organizations, have this right. Unless one wishes for Government Authority to make these decisions for private enterprises.

I have NO problem with these forums being placed in the same category as the lame stream media. Remove the liability exemption and make them accountable for what they allow to be published on their sites. Fact checking IS a two way street...........

But the regulation could backfire, at least in terms of creating the internet Trump desires. By barring social media companies from using the nuanced forms of moderation they currently employ, the executive order could force them to resort to heavy-handed actions: deleting posts, or blocking users, rather than simply factchecking or reducing the reach of the worst material.

Yep blocking that lying clown v2.0 from posting would cure a lot of ills.
