Generally the seasonal flu is a significant variant on the previous season's flu, sufficiently different to not be blocked by last year's vaccine but sufficiently close for the rapid development of an effective one. Generally there is an indication which way the virus is changing part way through the preceding flu season, so the drug developers can start their search early, but it still takes a few months to be sure. Also there are a whole lot of vaccines that haven't been used and those are tried against the new strain as soon as it is isolated.
The problem with corona viruses is although they are all related to each other they are all far too different from each other for a vaccine for corona virus "A" to be effective against corona virus "B". And in many cases one can't even start from an existing vaccine, which appears to be the case for the virus causing COVID-19

I agree, but some folk don't understand that vaccination works two ways - it stops you getting the disease, and it helps prevent you from becoming a carrier of that disease. People all too often don't understand that some can carry a virus while not being affected in any way by it, but they can pass it on to others.

Quite frankly I don't think that these type of people even know how they actually breath let alone much else, about their limit is that food and drink go in 1 end and the leftovers come out of the other (or 1 can hope so).

WHO stops study with malaria medication - can increase mortality
Malaria drugs have been used to treat covid-19 in several countries, but according to a new study, the drug may increase mortality. Now, the World Health Organization stops clinical testing of the medicine.
WHO is referring to a new study published in The Lancet magazine last Friday. According to the study, treatment of covid-19 with hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine can be associated with increased mortality.
As a result, WHO pauses all clinical trials in which patients are treated with the malaria medication, while reviewing all the data available in the field.

Weird that some take that drug as a prophylaxis against Covid-19...

Horowitz: The CDC confirms remarkably low coronavirus death rate. Where is the media?
Will they ever admit the grave consequences of their errors?

https://www.theblaze.com/op-ed/horowitz-the-cdc-confirms-remarkably-low-coronavirus-death-rate-where-is-the-media?utm_content=bufferdcb80&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=fb-rantnationwithgrahamallen&fbclid=IwAR1pVMbhpMuxaS24SQQfO0V_TF1ScWbtcvJCQLd4ad-toSJi9F96FmySnik
Officials estimate a 0.4% fatality rate among those who are symptomatic and project a 35% rate of asymptomatic cases among those infected, which drops the overall infection fatality rate (IFR) to just 0.26% — almost exactly where Stanford researchers pegged it a month ago.

And the real good news is with that low death rate we should break 100,000 in a day or so.

I think the media is all over the place. Since when have we seen so many experts, pundits and self appointed epidemiologists arguing how to mitigate this pandemic? When will people learn that the death rate is unknown? That you cannot compare it to other countries, not even between regions within countries. The death rate depend on so many unknown factors so no one call tell what it is in this early stage of the pandemic.
Many media also gives misleading info and that is dangerous. And most people only read the headlines...

0.26% * USA population; So about 860,000 killed by King Donald's inaction. Let's see, about 20- 25% more than the number of abortions in the USA. Quite a good record for Kind Donald.

Next hotspot is of course South America. First Brazil then Chile.
Over a week's "total quarantine" in the capital Santiago has not helped, covid-19 spread quickly in Chile. On Monday, 5,000 cases of infection were reported, the highest daily increase so far.
A total of 74,000 are infected, of which 90 percent are in Santiago. 761 people have died.
More than 14,000 police and military personnel have been deployed to check that the curfew is respected, several clashes between the police and protesters have been reported.

Not really. King Donald's party is 99.9999% anti-abortion no matter the circumstances. So a valid comparison on how they actually value human life and/or profits.

No. Many Republican voters is not at all anti-abortion. But whatever. Trump doesn't care what so ever. He is just looking on his accounts and trying to convince voters that he is the man to lead the USA for another four years...

Coronavirus is 'uniquely adapted to infect humans': Top vaccine scientist says it could only have come from an animal through a 'freak of nature' - and the possibility it leaked from Wuhan lab MUST be investigated

Oh dear... Yet more deliberately sensationalist made up dross from the UK Daily Mail...

No real story there then from that 'olden golden generations' gutter gossip rag.
