The Aricebo schedule is in AST not UTC, it is near the end of the day AST so it is May 24 for UTC... I think it is recording data right now, if I've done the conversion correctly. No idea how long it will take to get to us for splitting, but hopefully since it has been so long since we have had fresh data, the delay will be minimal. It will record 20:30- 22:30 AST

I'm still hopeful, but I have been called a chirpy optimist .

I got a resend today. A wu3 so it has been around a while. OK, maybe not . . . the person before me got it today and aborted it.

Any WU that ends with a _0 or a _1 is new work. _2, _3 etc are resends.
Won't be any new work till we get more Arecibo data.

Finally got a resend on the 25th. There should be some more resends coming in the next two days as I have a bunch of WUs waiting for a timeout on my wingman.

Does anyone know how AstroPulse workunits are distributed out to folks?
Like ... what kind of algorithm or whatever determines who gets to crunch?

I am curious because I haven't received anything in quite a while now (and yes I am aware of the lack of new units). I have my settings to accept only from the AstroPulse project and can crunch them pretty fast too with GPU.

One might think they would prioritize handing out workunits to folks who haven't received any for a while, or to folks who have an empty queue? Or is that not the case? Any thoughts about the methodology in use here?

Just wondering. Thanks! : )

I checked the Aricebo calendar, and it was updated. Doesn't look like they will record new data for us until May 30. That is assuming there isn't another schedule change.

So when do we think we will finish the 5000+ APs still out in the field.

I don't think the system prioritizes (or has time to prioritize) handing out APs. If it has APs to hand out and you are the next person to ask, then you get them. I think this system favors those who ask frequently, as it is chance. If it has some when you ask, then it gives you some.

There are thousands of us asking for APs right now, and 30-50 are being returned per hour. The odds aren't in anyone's favor at this point, as there are too few resends rattling around in the system, and MANY of us asking.

Yep, that explanation makes some sense of the situation. First come, first served!
It doesn't really seem like there is any kind of egalitarianism built into the system.

Oh well. : )

It's really more of a lottery with AP's, it comes down to the luck of the draw. ;-)

Cheers.
