Message 1978820 - Posted: 6 Feb 2019, 0:42:51 UTC - in response to Message 1978814.

Medical Baseline and Care rate on electric service here, gas just gets just Care rate, if wanted I could extend Medical to gas, but it's low enough, and sub metered is a pain.

Medical Baseline here, too. PG&E GOUGES the entire area! Dad, mom, and I ALL have health issues that got us qualified, AND, in fact we are covered on Gas as well as Electric, AND the bill STILL hits over $400...

[EDIT:]

Daedalus just got shut down. All work completed and reported.

TL

I just have SCE here. Medical all over, ouch, now that really sucks.

Medical crisis is right $400.00!! Ouch!

Yeah, the Dual Xeon setup in Daedalus contributed to the bill, I didn't want the new 145Watt GTX-970 making things worse... At least that only ran for a week. Also add in 65Watts for the EVGA GTX-1050, NOT much there, but every little bit adds up.

[Specs on Daedalus - cMP 5,1 Mid-2010 System:]

Dual Xeon E5620, 2.4GHz CPUs
64GB ECC DDR3 RAM - (8 x 8GB Sticks)
Mac GTX-970 4GB GDDR5 VRAM
EVGA GTX-1050 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
WiFi AC & Bluetooth 4 Card
ATAPI DVD-Burner - "SuperDrive"
One Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD - High Sierra 10.13.6 - Security Update 2019-001: (17G5019) - HFS+ Format
One Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD - Sierra 10.12.1: (16G2657) - HFS+ Format
One Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD - BootCamp/Win7 Pro SP-1 x64
One Western Digital Black 2TB SATA Hard Drive - 1TB for MacOS Time Machine, 1TB for Blizzard Games
One 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub - Powered, plugged into USB 2.0 Port on back of Tower
MacAlly ACEBTKey full sized Keyboard with 10-Key - Bluetooth Wireless
Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse - with USB Fob
USB Microphone
Altec Lansing ACS-295 - 2.1 Speaker Set with Subwoofer
Apple Cinema Display - 23", 1920 x 1200 - [EDIT:] Connected via DVI-D to GTX-970

[EDIT 2:] Would I be close in guessing that this System is pulling just under 500 Watts???

System ready for Upgrade to Mojave - FIRST Apple and NVIDIA need to "Play Nice" and release Mac NVIDIA Web Drivers.

I'm really sorry to hear of the trouble people are experiencing, and if I could, I'd give you all a big hug.

Scott,
Think peak rates. First find out what rate plan you are on. PG&E has a peak rate that is different on each plan, if you can turn your systems off during the peak hours you bill will be cut in half.
But I hear your pain. Back in 2008 I had build a farm of 10 rack mounted quads. My bill came in over $2,000 a month. So I did not keep it running very long.

Well, Crunching begins at 18:00 and goes to 09:00 Pacific time. USUALLY, 6PM/18:00 is when Peak Times END! Traditionally, this has been the case.

Besides, and again as stated, we ARE on Medical Baseline assistance for both Gas AND Electric. We SHOULD NOT be hitting these HIGH and EXORBITANT bills. 😞

Little after 4 in the dark morning. Temperature is at 26°F/-3°C and today’s high is expected to be 28°F. It rained a few hours ago so the car is nice and icy. Yay.
