Usually the stock market corrects itself about once per year. But it has been nearly 3 years since the last correction. The longest previous period without correction was nearly 5 years.
So there it is almost certain that the bubble will burst before 2020.

My modest mutual funds have been doing reasonably but I don't count it as money in the bank.
When it goes bust we will probably get to hear Eye blame his misfortune on Obama or Hillary.

As Clyde pointed out, markets rise and fall. If you're invested in the market and don't realize that you should get out now. I personally hedge and re-balance regularly to preserve as much gain as possible when the correction comes as it surely will.

As to the GDP not achieving a 3% goal in the last quarter all should be reminded that goals for any economy always hold the caveat 'black swans excepted'. All should also be aware of at least three such black swans in the last quarter. Harvey, Irma and Maria, three of the most devastating cyclonic storms in American history.

Houston and Puerto Rico partially or practically destroyed alone count for any perceived 'decrease in productivity'.

And today, the Dow Jones Industrial average closed for it's 99th(let me repeat that), 99th record high since the election of Donald J Trump. Not he, but his implemented policies, not Obama's 'hangover', are responsible.

Continue to irrationally 'Scream at the Sky' all you want Dims, the benefits of rational Conservatism continue to grow and the People see it and through the lies and hysteria.

Just how long has his first policy, the tax disaster, been around? What three weeks? Everything up until then is Obama.

Now 45 will overstimulate and cause a crash bigger than '29. Just wait until the Fed has to hike 2 or 3 percent at a time for several months in a row until interest is higher than the Ford administration. Just think how many trillions that will add to the deficit.

All when the Dems were just beginning to get Cash Flow (something 45 has demonstrated repeatedly he doesn't understand) under control.

Even god can't save the USA from 45.

You appear to have missed two things in what I wrote:

There is no such thing like an unbiased observer.

First: "trying to be a pragmatic and unbiased outside observer"... I make no claims.

What have other world leaders said about Trump?

Second: "that which is ultimately irrelevant, ie whether... people outside the US like him or not." I think he has demonstrated he doesn't care about their opinions.

Yes which means his statement in Davos "America First doesn't mean America Alone" is false.

Probably the first time a president has been "booed" at WEF.
Trump's social behaviour is somewhat...
How do I say this without name calling...
Whatever. Good luck mr President.

Just another internal USA plus for Trump. Who is correctly laughing at their ignorance of American politics and culture.

Thats not true Clyde.
Here in Europe we are bombarded with American politics and culture.
Just by watching TV, the very same TV news and entertainment shows like you do.
Yes we can see both Fox News and CNN in real time here as well.

On our public service station SVT, Live reporting from US elections with explainations how the US voting system works.
Watched by far more many then who watch elections that are not of national interest.
Interviews with real Americans from all parts of America and all societies.
A LOT of documentaries from the USA.
I saw the US Senate hearing with FBI Comey live here on SVT for instance.
And "den jävla reklamen", I mean many of the ads we have to endure, is now in American English.
Sigh...

Sometimes I think we Swedes knows more about the USA then you do!
Heck, even children aged 5 learn about America and even American foul language before the learn English in school.

And I'm pretty sure that I know Trump better then you do.

And yours.
Most Americans are isolationists. That not only restricts their thinking to not only being concerned about what goes on inside the USA, but frequently not giving a damn what goes on outside their state.
A Texan I know explained it this way, as we visited Boston. TAFT.

Corrected, posted before finishing first brew, sorry.
Addition;
Back to the economy.
Consumer spending is going up faster than income.
There’s a big red flag in today’s report on the economy

You have not met any Swedes nor been to Sweden so how can you tell?
I have relatives living in the US and know several people who lives there.
My former boss for instance who lived in New Jersey.
I have met many Americans as well.
One is almost a neighbor to me.
Funny thing is that his son who I meet almost every day is named Janne just like me:)

Does Trump know any Swedes?
Not really but he and his father claimed that Trump's grandfather came from Karlstad.
That is a town in Värmland, Sweden.
He lied of course. His grandfather came from Kallstadt in Bavaria, Germany.
He was deported from Bavaria and moved to the US.
https://www.snopes.com/trumps-grandfather-bavaria-deport/
Donald Trump claimed he was of Swedish ancestry - but it's a lie

JE... As you can see by the responses. They truly believe that foreign booing or name calling against Trump, or any other US President. Is a positive in reducing that President's internal political power. It is the opposite.
Understanding that foreign booing and name calling of President Trump is 'playing well' inside their countries.
But not understanding how this 'Plays Into Trump's Hand' inside the USA. Is the ignorance I was referencing.

You are barking at the wrong tree, Clyde.
Why don't you troll marlins instead?
Florida Keys seems to be a good spot to catch those delicious fishes.
