It'll take a lot more than just "thoughts and prayers" to fix this continuing insanity over there.

JE is correct... right from the first line of this article and many others:

The man accused of killing five people at a Maryland newspaper was investigated five years ago for a barrage of menacing tweets against the Capital Gazette...
(emphasis mine)

Somehow I doubt this will stop the accusations that the media are "fake news" and out to get Donald Trump, however.

Wondering if the Politically Suicidal Democrats and their supporters will again describe more money in peoples pockets as "crumbs"?

Answer: Yes.

Yep that may very well be true even though it is true. The apparent nature of mankind shows the idiocracy favors short term gains over long term profits. They were bred to favor a party today rather than long term wealth.

What more money? Their pockets are shrinking. Only a 1%'er wouldn't know this. Pitchforks coming.

Let’s say your car holds 12 gallons of gasoline. If you have filled up your gas tank nine times in the past week (for some reason), you have spent an average of about $61 dollars more on gas this week than you would have the day President Trump was inaugurated. If you are in the bottom 20 percent of Americans in income, we have some bad news for you: There goes your tax cut.

Even among his supporters there's no much support for his tax policy.
‘Not what we expected’: Trump’s tax bill is losing popularity
In a packed arena in Fargo, N.D., this week, President Trump's most ardent supporters roared with approval when he talked about protecting the U.S. borders, beating the Democrats and “respect for our great, beautiful, wonderful American flag.” When Trump pivoted to the tax bill, his top legislative accomplishment, the crowd clapped — but without the fervor they had shown for many of his other applause lines.

Trump signed the tax cut legislation just before Christmas. Six months later, it is losing popularity.

American families are unsure whether they are benefiting from the tax cut, and small businesses say they are confused by the complex changes affecting them. A recent poll from Monmouth University found 34 percent of adults approve of the tax cut now, a slide from January when adults were about evenly split between approving and disapproving. And about a third of families say they are better off because of the cuts, according to polls by Politico and the New York Times.

That might match projected $ figures pretty well. It also means 2/3 are worse off. It's the economy stupid.

Again, consider the source of this 'news'. The WaPo, owned by one Jeff Bezos, also owner of Amazon which just got clobberd by SCOTUS with the Internet Tax ruling. A ruling which levels somewhat the playing field for brick and mortar stores and greatly enriches the coffers of the States Treasuries.

This ruling was applauded by the Trump Administration and follows DJT's tweets about Amazon avoiding taxes and 'ripping off America'.........so the Liberal 'Tax anything that moves' crowd should be on the Trump side of the issue........except that would be logical.

Remind anyone of a world leader?
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/06/29/lawyer-describes-dangerous-jarrod-ramos/747466002/
McCarthy stated repeatedly that no one had ever frightened him the way Ramos did. He called Ramos a "classic loner" and "as angry and obsessive an individual as you will ever meet." He also said Ramos viewed anyone who opposed him as an enemy.

"He described adverse parties as belligerents," McCarthy said. "Like he's at war."

If you don't want like what WaPo wrote you can always look up the results of Monmouth University Polls, 538 gives them an A+ rating. The poll referred to is https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/monmouthpoll_nj_062718/

See for yourself if you have half an hour to spare, the Trump ramblings at Fargo ND are on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kJN2auK4SI

The only thing that surprises me about your post moomim is that you didn't claim that Trump actually pulled the trigger..........blind hatred......leaves the observer............blind to truth.
Part of the criticism is that Trump has previously appointed media to "the enemy of the state," writes ABC. The president has also appointed media on Twitter to "the enemy of the people" and accuses them of lying, engaging in fake news.
These statements mean critics against Trump can urge citizens in the country to act violently against journalists.
Another example raised in the criticism occurred just before the election in 2016 when Trump held a speech in which he expressed hatred against journalists.

It's the economy stupid ...
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-economy/republicans-might-need-an-even-stronger-u-s-economy-to-hold-onto-house-idUSKBN1JP2PU
Several who use economic data in their models have concluded that unless the economy gets quite a bit stronger Republicans will not be able to retain their hold on Congress.

The U.S. economy is doing well by many measures. But their analysis, based on data running back to the 1940s or earlier, gives evidence Democrats have a good chance of winning at least 23 seats at November’s midterm polls, enough to take control of the House of Representatives.
...
That model predicts Republicans will hold on to their majority if incomes grow at least 3.4 percent in the first six months of this year. If it did that, it would be the strongest six-month pace for income growth in two decades.

A burst of income growth is still possible. But data published on Friday suggests Republicans could come up short, with after-tax incomes up a modest 1.5 percent in the six months through May, according to the Commerce Department.
...
Presidential approval ratings are the other critical factor in the model, weighing more heavily than income. With Trump’s rating at 42 percent in Gallup’s early June polls, Lewis-Beck said, “the economy has got to really be rocking for them to overcome that drag.”
...
Most rely on polling data rather than economic data for predicting midterms races. James Campbell of the University at Buffalo will make predictions based on how many House seats are seen as vulnerable by analysts at the Cook Political Report. Campbell was off by three seats in 2014. So far this year his model points to Republican losses of over 40 seats.

“It looks pretty devastating,” he said.

https://www.dw.com/en/study-right-wing-extremism-and-islamism-reinforce-each-other/a-44467597
An analysis of social media content has found right-wing extremists and Islamists share fundamental similarities. The racism of the far-right and religious beliefs of the Islamists result in similar viewpoints.

Hostility towards Muslims and Islamism are closely linked and mutually reinforcing, according to a study from the Jena Institute for Democracy and Civil Society published on Friday.

Between 2013 and 2017, researchers from the Jena Institute and the London Institute for Strategic Dialogue examined more than 10,000 pieces of Islamist and right-wing extremist Facebook content

The analysis of the social media content found the mobilization and radicalization strategies of the two groups were similar,

Islamism and right-wing extremism meet ideologically in anti-Semitism, in conspiracy myths and in the goal of homogeneous societies, the study found. The respective beliefs are therefore racist on the right and religiously founded among the Islamists.

"Right-wing extremists and Islamists reject freedom, pluralism and liberalism," said study author Maik Fielitz.

It found the two groups relied on each other to foster the sense of an enemy and to give credibility to their extremist narratives.

Cohen Flips.
NEW YORK (AP) — After once boasting he would “take a bullet” for Donald Trump, the president’s longtime personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen fired a possible warning shot toward the White House, saying he now puts “family and country first.”

In his first interview since federal agents raided his home and hotel room three months ago as part of an investigation into his business dealings, Cohen made clear that protecting Trump is not his priority.

“My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will,” Cohen told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in an off-camera interview that was reported on Monday’s “Good Morning America.” ″I put family and country first.”

Espionage
WASHINGTON (AP) — During the special counsel’s Russia investigation, Konstantin Kilimnik has been described as a fixer, translator or office manager to President Donald Trump’s ex-campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

But Kilimnik, an elusive figure now indicted alongside Manafort on witness tampering charges, was far more involved in formulating pro-Russia political strategy with Manafort than previously known, according to internal memos and other business records obtained by The Associated Press.

The records include a rare 2006 photograph of Kilimnik, a Ukrainian native, in an office setting with Manafort and other key players in Manafort’s consulting firm at the time. Some of the documents were later independently obtained by U.S. government investigators.

More than a decade before Russia was accused of surreptitiously trying to tilt the presidential election toward Trump, Manafort and Kilimnik pondered the risks to Russia if the country did not hone its efforts to influence global politics, the records show.
