IMHO the President could gain a great deal by turning the other cheek on trivial comments by ungrateful persons.....

He is not capable of doing that ever.

It would be even better if your so called president would kept his antagonistically, ungratefully backwards comments to himself instead of displaying his stupidity on Tweeter to start with.

He's certainly a man without a clue. ;-)

As to the backward religious B.S., no comment here as that would be off topic. :-p

Cheers.

No only about 25% wanted that wrecking ball, the other 75% wanted something better than the two Soros funded parties could put forth.

LOL
Donald Trump proclaimed during the first presidential debate that not paying federal taxes made him "smart," then denied having said it.

I wonder if all US citizens get smart, what will happen then?

He will be reelected in a landslide, but no worry, all US citizens won't get that smart.

By the way, all three major indices of the US Stock market reached new all time highs today.

"Since Election Day, the Dow Jones industrial average has surged 24.7 percent — fueled in large part by investor enthusiasm for Trump’s plans to cut regulations and taxes and bring back manufacturing jobs.

The S&P 500, a broader gauge of US companies, has risen 19.2 percent since Election Day. The Nasdaq has surged the most, 26.9 percent, driven largely by Apple and Amazon — two companies that Trump has publicly attacked."

Maybe we're not as dumb as you would like to believe.....

I don't think US people are dumb.
It's Trump that think they are by avoiding paying tax as everyone else has to do and also have the nerve to say "I'm smarter then you".

Two points.

The stock market is not the economy.
Manufacturing jobs are not coming back, manufacturing may very well but it will be without lots of jobs.

Was talking with my broker about that today. There is a correction storm brewing. The little people are starting to believe the market can only go up. That happened in 1929, 1987, 2008. Watch the VIX and the short interest and if you are really a tech type the McClellan Oscillator.

It won't be too long and you will be hearing the words, cash is king again.

Manufacturing jobs are not coming back...

Of course not.
Manufacturing jobs are always located to places where labor and corporation taxes are cheap.
Well. Trump will lower the corporation taxes but that wont help.
No. Lost jobs to cheaper countries are lost for ever.
Unless Americans want to work with same salary and working conditions as the all outsourced corporations have....

....wrong.
Anyone can AVOID paying a lot of taxes if they are smart about it. If you don't take every deduction and loophole that is legally allowed then yes, you are stupid.

It is legal to Avoid taxation. It is illegal to Evade taxation.

@betreger...........a question. Do you personally or through a retirement plan have investments in the Stock Market?
If so then maybe it's more a part of the economy than you perceive. 401k plans, IRA plans, Roth plans ALL offer investment in the economy through the market. Those who choose not to avail themselves of the opportunity are usually the ones condemning the idea and missing out.

The Market is an indicator of the health of the economy as well as being a builder of personal wealth(a goal everyone has if they are planning ahead for when they are no longer able or interested in working, unless their plan is to suck off the public dole).

Time will tell. I'm betting on good old Yankee Ingenuity to overcome your low wage scenario. The jobs actually doing the mind numbing or back breaking repetitive processes will be automated and those workers replaced. That only opens the door for higher paying jobs FIXING and SERVICING the robots who will do the manufacturing.

Same thing goes for residential and commercial infrastructure service and repair. I keep saying Electricians, Mechanics, Plumbers, Hvac Techs and home automation techs are in great demand. There are thousands of unfilled positions right now that are high paying but there aren't enough young people willing to 'learn a trade' rather than get a useless degree in social graces that will probably never earn them a dime.

Eye you asked:

The answer is yes, but I am not a rich man.
You posit:

Yep, all three dozen of them.

Which is my point. I am not a rich man, I made decisions early in my working life to save whatever I could. This when I was driving trucks or mining uranium or working for the local parks department.
The market allowed me to leverage those savings into eventually being able to fund my retirement at a comfortable level.
Anyone can do that in the USA and THAT is the beauty of our system(to me anyway).

You posit: That only opens the door for higher paying jobs FIXING and SERVICING the robots who will do the manufacturing.

Yep, all three dozen of them.

Before making that aside you really should investigate how many industrial robots there are at this very moment, and that number is not going to decline.

I think you are evading the issue:)
(Definitions of evade, verb, escape or avoid, especially by cleverness or trickery.)

I was thinking if everyone get smart as Trump is.
That would result to that no one will pay any US federal tax.
Sounds great if you are very rich and can make a living without the help of a government.

Sorry. Robots can do that maintenance of robots as well for almost nothing.
Since I'm in the business of machine maintenance I know how easy to implement that idea:)
I think there are already companies who are exploring the idea.
