On my page I am supposed to have more tha 900WU in progress also one in "error" On my page, no any visible in "error" But the worst, on one machines I have 200 WU (100CPU and 100GPU so it is normal. I repeat in folder of WU I really have 200 WU On the other machine I have real about 30 WU. So normally I should have about 230 WU "in progress" on the site. Where are the others ??? And where is the "in error" ??? |

They had a problem with applying an update to v8.23 on ATI cards which resulted in incorrect values showing up in the listing, and files on your computer. The error should show something, it is strange that it is blank but still counted. Don't worry about the incorrect values for now, they will straighten themselves out over the coming week(s). |

That's what you would expect from "ghost" tasks. Sometimes the servers think they gave sent you WUs, but you never got them, for various reasons. So you never have them on your machine to process, but the servers only know you didn't return results, so they think they time out. Won't affect anything, as they will be sent to other users on time out, so they will be processed eventually. Just not by you! |

Hello, I have verify my computer very deeply. I have about seven hundred "ghost" WU. I can understand sometime there are network problems, but not believe it so much. It is TCP/IP protocol (not datagram). So normally nothing can be lost. I agree about some WU, but not so big amount. So I think there is a problem on the up/download server. Best regards from Belgium |

The quickest / easiest way to "get rid " of the ghost tasks is to remove seti from boinic , advanced view , projects tab hi lite seti@home then "remove" tab . After you have done that wait a couple of minutes and reatach to seti with your email , password as a existing user . That will cause all the "ghosts" to go to errors but they will get re asigned to others computers . Its the quickest way unless your going to wait for them all to error out when they reach their deadlines , wich is what will happen anyhow. Even with "resend lost tasks " turned on ( and i have had a few resends in the last couple of days ) if you were going to receve them you would have by now . If you do this the tasks get sent back out and your error list decreases everytme a unit is returned so won't even be showng after a month 6 weeks Life is what you make of it :-) When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-) |

Mark, Tks for a,swer and explanation. My problem started on Jan 01th after upgrade. I had about one hundred ghost. So after one week, I disconnected from Boinc, erase all data and folder, from control panel, removed Boinc. restarted my PC. And install it again, I received 200 WU after only about one day !!! (100CPU/100GPU). My turnaround time is about 2 days on my "big" computer. Much more on the other. But after a few hours, on y account page page I had about 500 Ghost. So your idea was already used, without success. In each case, thanks for your help. It seem something wrong with statistics. My account is fully open. So you can look. |

Erasing your data folders was counter productive as the ghosts are lost between the servers and your PC, not sitting in limbo on your PC. Doing what you did you either got a pile of fresh tasks delivered, or got the ones that were on your computer back (which one depends on server settings, not something yo can control). But the ghosts will still be there, in the worst case you can actually increase the number of ghosts (as I did a few weeks back) As Mark says, you either remove the computer from SETI, wait a few minutes, and re-connect the computer, or just let the ghosts time out. The statistics are correct - your computer has ~960 tasks assigned to it, these are shown as "in progress". Of those ~660 will be ghosts - lost somewhere between the servers and your computer. The problem is related to a v8.23 software update for ATI cards that went wrong and ghosted WUs for ATI users. I have seen over 8000 on some computers so it's not just you. It will be easiest for you to just let them time out, or you could try the recover lost tasks procedure of interrupting an upload to initiate the server looking at the task list, which would probably release all the v8.23 tasks. To do that, - set 'No New Tasks" and wait until you have room to download 20 tasks (max the server will resend at one time) - wait for a task that needs to be reported but already uploaded - while watching your 5 minute timer, hover over "Suspend Network" option - click as soon as you see "Reporting XX tasks" - you should NOT see "Scheduler request completed" or you missed the correct timing - wait at least 5 minutes, you can leave BOINC running - Shutdown/restart BOINC for 1 minute, STOPPING tasks - enable "Allow Work", then Enable network - the server will either send you up to 20 lost tasks or delete them from your list - Repeat as required .... |

You want to " REMOVE" seti it is a different button than " RESET PROJECT" on my manager ( think it's latest one ) REMOVE is the button BELOW RESET PROJECT . Re join the project but insted of new user click on existing user and re enter your details . not going to try myself but remember you don't want to re install as a "service" otherwise your gpu's won't be used i think but don't quote me on that . Tanks a lot everyone. So, I will nothing change. No reset (I already did, but nothing changed), I have no abilities in french and I can not speak engllish either. But with a little help from a google translate I can ask/say: Merci. De quelle partie de la Belgique le meilleur chocolat vient-il? "The part?, of the B the best C is-from-it." That is intended to mean something like: Thank You. From which part of the Belgium does the most appreciated chocolate come from? -- To overcome Heisenbergs: "You can't always get what you want / but if you try sometimes you just might find / you get what you need." -- Rolling Stones |

La Grand Place. I once bought a Lady Godiva box and carried it on my flight to Milano to give to my female coworkers. They returned me the box only empty. Tullio |

I just remove seti from my boinc, and re-attach. After merging the computers, all my ghosts where clear (in errors), and distributed to you fellow crunchers (-/-200WU). At those time that there is no task to send in the server status page.... It will be good if more volunteers could clear their ghosts from that 5Millions results out in the field. |
