Message 1837036 - Posted: 20 Dec 2016, 2:43:36 UTC - in response to Message 1837022.

Well it's been confirmed.

Trump is 45th President of the USA

Shall we take bets on how long he lasts before he's impeached?

8 months is my bet :-)

A repeat from another Thread, a few days ago:

#1 - The Democrat's Failed Recount

#2 - The Democrat's Failed attempted hijacking of Electoral College

#3 - The Democrat's Failed attempted Impeachment

#4 - The Political Suicide of The Democrat's.

Fun to watch!!!

P.S. After reading the 'Impeachment' Posts. Even more fum!!!

#1- I never thought the recount would change anything

#2 - I never thought the attempt to influence the electoral college would work, nor did I think it was a good idea.

#3- I think the impeachment will come from the Republican side

#4 - I am not a democrat (I'm a foreigner, plus your Democrat party is more like the right wing Conservative party from the UK, not my cup of tea, but far better than Trump) so the only concern about that is that is now no viable opposition to Trump. However, with Trump in charge I think the Republican party will also suffer from a lot of infighting.

#5 - Trump has already begun to unleash a sh*t show on the world, and it's not going to get better. He's a con man. If you voted for him, you got conned. He is out for himself and his own business interests, lots of those appear to be all over the world including Russia. Him and his corporate buddies ( who are now in his cabinet) are going to make a lot of money.

If he isn't assassinated first. I suspect there will be serious attempts made.

He tried to pick a veep, like Biden or Quayle, that no one would dare want in office to keep him in. Did he succeed?

Doesn't look like the liberals are ever going to accept this election...

1. Let's not make things sound so black and white. The 'dump Trump' movement wasn't liberals... And the general anti-Trump sentiment is not limited to liberals.

2. This guy could end up being so extreme his whole party could turn on him.

3. You could likely end up hating this guy yourself, too.

4. I think very quickly he will get into serious legal trouble if something worse doesn't happen to him.

5. This is far from the death of the democratic party (though I really hope it causes major reform and platform changes within the party).

6. Es99 is very correct when she refers to our democrat party as similar to her right-wing party, so imagine how far right some of the people here seem to me. ;-)

7. I am GLAD to be a New Yorker, but if I wasn't I'd be very worried these days.

8. Hopefully the next time you people on the right get the presidency, can you PLEASE bring in someone a little more normal and not an extremist. Thanks. I'd rather have four more years of Dubya- and that's a scary thing for me to think or say.

( I think that about sums up my opinions for now)

Can you say Clinton Foundation paid access?
And he isn't even in office yet! See no hope and more swamp.

Donald Trump’s adult sons have found yet another way to benefit from their father’s name. The Center for Public Integrity reports that a new nonprofit led by Don Jr. and Eric Trump is promising inauguration weekend-access to the next president of the United States in exchange for six- and seven-figure donations

LOCK HIM UP and maybe this type of corruption will stop.

Bring back the "rule of mob" and maybe some sanity will return to our federal government.

Trump BEAT Clinton by 3 million votes outside of California and New York!

Are you suggesting California and New York should form their own country? I'm not sure the remaining states could withstand the tax increase. No taxation without representation!
<ED>with the ports in CA and NY we could lay some nice duties on all those goods you want in the interior.

Now there's an idea. But you do have to wonder how the remaining States would balance the Federal budget.

Those aren't the only 2 ports in the USA... 2 others that come to mind are New Orleans and Houston... many many others besides all up and down the east coast. CA and NY do not have a monopoly on ports in the USA.

<edit1>California and New York... Let them go... And while you all are at it, let Texas go too. <grin>

<edit2> 6 of the top 10 busiest ports are in Louisiana and Texas (including #1 and #2).

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Or join Canada? :-O

I believe that an offer was made. LOL

It may force them into realising that this is the 21st century and not the 19th. :-D

Cheers.

Yes I am sure Waco will be able to replace Silicon Valley.

It costs a chunk of change to put a ship through the Panama Canal, if it fits*. I don't just mean the toll and pilot charges, but the extra bunker and pay for the crew.
Also I just don't think there is the capacity ... Putting NY, Oakland, Los Angeles, Long Beach and Tacoma together it would rank as #4 in the world, Savanah is #46, Virginia #64 and Houston #74 and the rest off the bottom of the chart.

Is there enough road and rail to support the traffic? Look at the traffic jams around the chunnel.

I wouldn't put it past the Texan's to look at the tax math, how bad the rust states will drain them and make a smart business decision to skip the USA as well if CA and NY left. You can be sure OR and WA would want in with CA.

<ed>Also consider those ports are all subject to hurricanes. Can you afford to not have goods delivered during hurricane season? Insurance companies are funny about avoiding risk.

*They are busy making the locks wider to accommodate modern ships.

I see our lists duel. Yours includes Canadian oil exports and other bulk ore exports.
Mine is containers or consumer goods, it doesn't include cars https://goo.gl/maps/bHoNfNjB4pC2

You are focused on container freight only (by 'TEUs', or 'twenty-foot equivalent units'). My list counts ALL freight (by tons).

Another source:

http://www.rita.dot.gov/bts/sites/rita.dot.gov.bts/files/publications/national_transportation_statistics/html/table_01_57.html

Also, by total tons, The Port of Houston, Texas leads the nation in total tons of foreign imports, foreign exports, and TOTAL foreign.

The Port of Houston, Texas handled 159,550,991 short tons of foreign freight in 2013. By comparison, the Port of Los Angeles, California handled only 52,005,277 short tons of foreign freight in the same time period (less than 1/3 of what The Port of Houston handled).

The Port of South Louisiana took the #1 spot due primarily to Domestic freight shipments.

You have any idea of the size of The Port of South Louisiana?

In world ports, only 2 US ports make the top 20 (in tons of freight). Yes, you guessed it... South Louisiana @ #13 and Houston @15.

Care to explain why we should care about the ports of New York/New Jersey (#34), Long Beach (#49), or Los Angeles (#75)?

http://aapa.files.cms-plus.com/Statistics/WORLD%20PORT%20RANKINGS%202014.xlsx

Shoot, even the Port of Beaumont, Texas beats the Port of Long Beach, California by about 2 million tons of freight a year.

So what gets shipped through Louisiana's port?
Grain. Grain grown by farmers getting taxpayer subsidies and sold with US foreign aid money.
Steel. Comes in taking away jobs from rust belt states.
