I dunno...
The kitties have full caches, so if there are any problems with downloading tasks, they are not affecting much here.

It comes & goes.
Sometimes i'll come back & there's no downloads waiting, other times it's a couple, and at other times it's 50+.

As the Holy Hand Grenade mentioned it's usually just the one machine, even though they're on the same modem & router.

I know these are low-priority, but...

1) the "science status" page hasn't been updated for over two years. I'd say either take it down, or get someone to work on it!

2) the "Client Connection Statistics" page was last updated in March of 2013! Same comment: take it down or get it working... this was (in the past...) usually an easy fix...

3) If Arecibo isn't going to share the data of where the telescope is looking, take that part of the Science page down. Look into getting that data from Greenbank, and/or the LOFAR array...

One of the download servers is totally FUBAR, and needs to be reset or re-booted... on some of my computers the downloads come through as normal, on others I get the dreaded "transient HTTP error"...

Yep, still getting sticky downloads.
Lots & lots of retries and then they finally come through Ok for a while. Till the next log jam.

Glad to see they managed to get the system back up again. Hopefully it'll make it through the weekend.

Some downloads getting through (especislly when they're on a different computer from one that "hangs"...) and others hanging, particularly when a whole batch hangs, is a symptom of one of the download servers hanging, and needing a kick in the pants... (10 year veteran of SETI hangs...)

. . HI,

. . I have found that often, when it hangs, if you shut down the network access for a little while like 10 to 30 secs then reenable the network it will re-poll the server and the d/ls will kick off again and come through as normal. Though sometimes if there are many of them, it might hang again later on.

I hope the servers aren't having hardware problems. Seems like down-time happens almost everyday during this past week. At least the peak donation period is coming soon near the end of the year. Maybe we can get some more details on what might need replacing and any donation goals.

Well I was getting less than 5mins last week.

I wonder how far I'll get this time.

Cheers.

Eric says the raid card in carolyn is the culprit.
Getting rather futzy.

I heard Wendell say on some video that raid cards are designed for max airflow. Praise Wendell :-D

. . Hi Kitty man

. . I have translated "futzy" as "flaky", but what can it cost for a new raid card? I can kick in $2, only need another couple of hundred guys :)

I have no idea what a server grade raid card might cost.

A quick Google search on
server grade raid card
Yields many results of $200 to $400.
