It could be very likely that those tapes have already been processed by the current AP app (they are from 2010 after all) and if that's the case then nothing is being lost (and why they were added while the AP database down). ;-) Cheers. |

Splitting and our processing are not dependent on the AP (or MB) database being running - it is only the validation and recording of the results that need the database. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Just sayin ... :) |

Splitting and our processing are not dependent on the AP (or MB) database being running - it is only the validation and recording of the results that need the database. Pretty sure it is. When WUs get split, they are checked against the DB to see if it's already been split before. Since the DB is disabled, that check can't happen, but splitting happens anyway, so those channels end with an error. And then if the DB were running, and they haven't been split before (with this generation of the app, at least), then entries are made in the DB for those WUs, which the results of will then be added once validation is done and assimilation happens. tl;dr: the science DB needs to be running for WUs to split and be issued. Re-issues (_2+) do not need the DB, but _0 and _1 does. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

Looking in my logs it looks like I first got that at 2016/03/28 23:49 UTC, or about 4:49PM Berkeley time. Maybe Jeff or Eric popped in and have given things a kick or some of the automated things are going into self preservation mode.Ah well, now the SSP is stuck at [As of 27 Mar 2016, 16:30:05 UTC] SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Now getting reports that Server is shut down for maintenance. No WUs uploading/downloading. My uploads are still going through, but the last Scheduler request resulted in a "Project down for maintenance" message & an extended communication backoff time. Grant Darwin NT |

You're right, they are uploading, just not reporting as of right now. SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

It is true something went down, we probably won't be able to report until well after 9:00 AM PDT or as the rest of the world calls it 16:00 GMT. |

It is true something went down, we probably won't be able to report until well after 9:00 AM PDT or as the rest of the world calls it 16:00 GMT. Depending on why the system is running in maintenance mode & if they know what is going on. Everything could be back online very quickly or maybe we will have maintenance on Monday instead of Tuesday this week. It has happened a few times before. Personally I don't listen to the people in Greenwich when they say what time it is & I won't be driven to by peer pressure!. They haven't been a scientific standard for decades. :P SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Well that has been the established centre of World time for centuries, so it is more logical & understandable for everyone to use UT. Anyway yes I wondered why my GPU fans were quiet when everything else worked: SETI downtime again. |

Sorry for OT but why "server status" page is this computer: centurion: Intel Server (2 x hexa-core 3.4GHz Xeon, 512 GB RAM)? It is part of hosts but is is not listed under server status list. |

On the plus side the server status doesn't seem to be stuck any longer. However pretty much everything is currently disabled. Someone may have popped in remotely, or gotten an alert, and disabled everything. That way they can dig into it in the morning and see what is going on. Instead of spending the rest of their holiday weekending trying to figure out what is going on. With 512GB of RAM perhaps it could be destined for, or already is, performing database duties. Sorry for OT but why "server status" page is this computer: centurion: Intel Server (2 x hexa-core 3.4GHz Xeon, 512 GB RAM)? My understanding is that it will be running a new instance of the science database to handle GBT (Green Bank Telescope) results. |

I have always wondered why Thumper is on the list, A maintenance computer? |
