My two puppies have tested positive for parvo virus. Fortunately we
caught it very early so their chances of recovery are excellent. In
fact, the one that got it first (on Monday, went to vet on Wednesday)
is already back to his old self. The vet says, since he's eating, he's
basically cured. Yay. Hopefully the same will happen with Sissy. She's
had her first dose of meds. Hopefully she'll recover quickly, too.

As most of you know, I don't have much money, so unexpected vet
expenses like this hit me in my pocketbook. I've started a "gofundme"
and, hopefully, some kind souls will help me out a little.

In addition to the expenses for the puppies, I had a cat spayed and
vaccinated earlier this month. So now I'm forced to write post-dated
checks to the vet. Thank God my vet clinic is willing to accept them.

Me too, Chris.
Me too. How sick can some people get?
I read a horror story or two almost every day about something horrible that somebody has done to a cat, and it riles me to no end when I know how much I love and care for the creatures.

Sick bastards indeed.

Amazing what conclusions people jump to...

"Amid reports shot by a gang in a 4x4" Why didn't the witnesses contact the police?

Police reports "Goose buried before they arrived" Why?

Indeed. We need other species on Earth.
The pic of the geese is not only a nice pic.

The shooting and killing of a goose is one thing (it sounds as if that goose died "instantly"), but the leaving a bird maimed with a dart sticking through its neck is totally abhorrent - my grandfather was a game keeper, his rule when shooting at an animal make sure you kill it with the first shot, if you can't be sure of that then don't pull the trigger".

My concern with the goose is why didn't they take it away and have a good meal? There are only a few reasons to kill an animal, for food, it is vermin being the two most obvious, "sport" and "fun" are off the bottom of the list.

Absolutely. I strongly agree on both points.

As a former bird hunter(can't walk the fields anymore) I feel there is a special level in hell reserved for those who willfully murder innocent creatures without reason or mistreat them in any case. In 40 years of hunting I can state proudly that no fowl harvested by me were wasted and all were very much appreciated and admired. The same goes for fish which I still 'hunt' and enjoy.

I feel that to eat meat, fowl or fish without acknowledging it's source is mentally unhealthy....":|

I do fish but it's catch and let go. I have been doing that for 25 years.

I haven't hunted in 40 years at all D.G.

I hope you understand that the Lord above gave us and instructed us to eat those animals placed upon this earth for such a thing.

I have no problem with hunting to eat. It is just the mindless killing of God's creatures that I have a problem with. Ted Nugent hunts to eat. We are friends, and conservators of Gods gifts. I do hope that some of you can draw that line.
Because I can.

The shooting of Cecil the lion is knife edge point in case.
It was tragic indeed, but the case has been made since, that the culling of the lion population in Africa is indeed needed and necessary. And the fact the this particular lion had a name tag was the only reason things came about as they did.

Why and how that is trusted to OUR species to do so is a question I am not yet prepared to answer./
