Two words...Swamp Cooler. Uses 1/6 the power of central air, and the only things that can go bad are the fan belt, the motor, and the pump. 97 degrees outside now and 72 inside. Of course you have to live in a relatively low humidity climate. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I asked a question over in Rocky's ...and also - my garden would be like keeping it in a trap :( (due to it's boundaries) if it wanted to move on somewhere else. So I don't know what to do. edit: I will do research :) |

Bit warm across the pond is it? Hmm fishing, that's where you sit in a boat drinking beer all day isn't it? :) Member of the People Encouraging Niceness In Society club. |

Bit warm across the pond is it? Exactly! And if done properly, you aren't bothered by any fish. :) |

Dry Climate and Water, doesn't work too well or at all in humid conditions, Me I'm using My a/c since the cooler pump I have is too small for temps over 90-102F. So I'll have another electric bill around $97 or so. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I grew up with one but getting a 40 degree temperature drop across one of them is pushing it. In addition, the house is new construction and was designed around a big heat pump so installing a cooler at this point would be an issue. The other advantage is we get bad dust storms and the heat pump pretty well keeps the dirt out. |

My swamp cooler died when the bolts that hold the motor onto the cooler all snapped off. I just stuck a 6000 BTU a/c unit in that window for now. I eventually need to seal it up though. |

Exactly! And if done properly, you aren't bothered by any fish. :) That's why it's called fishing instead of catching...I only fish for trout due to the cleaning issue. Trout I can clean in under 4 seconds(been timed), all others take longer and are usually a real mess(scales and everything). My uncle in New Mexico has a great way to clean Crappie, you don't! Just use an electric carving knife and filet each side and peel the skin. Now I'm hungry for a good 'ole fish fry! "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I have an LG 10,000 BTU a/c unit in a window, that cools the small bathroom and the living room, plus the kitchen to a point, it's not enough to cool the master bedroom, the master bath and the washer/dryer area that's between the kitchen and the master bedroom, plus if I ever want to add more cooling, I need to find out how many more BTU's I need to add and before I ever do that I should replace 3 single pane aluminum framed windows with 3 custom vinyl dual pane window inserts, but that's about $1100 in windows. Rumours are abound that Sidney has been asking about my whereabouts, I wish to inform him that my absence has been due to the fact that I have been reacquainted with an old golfing friend. He's been showing me how to hold his club and I've promised him if he gets stuck in an awkward lay I'll pull out his wood and nibblet. Muriel dear, best wishes to you in your golfing endeavors! My Eric is so proud of his driver and he generally manages to get a hole... in one, that is. |

Angela, you are indeed lucky that Eric has the control of his club to manage to putt out. I have found that Sidney, on occasion, has experienced problems when addressing the hole and has developed somewhat of a nervous twitch, which can be somewhat off putting. Angela, you are indeed lucky that Eric has the control of his club to manage to putt out. Oh dear. Well fortunately my Eric is still quite the Tiger... Woods that is, as his follow-through is excellent. But I absolutely insist that we only golf together. I have no interest in a threesome or a foursome. |

Turning to another subject, one day I hope to have that aquarium set up so that Grace and I will have someone to gaze at... I do have most of the supplies already. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
