Happy St. Patrick's Day!

No green beer for me, but I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

I didn't see either Guinness or green beer being drunk at either pub here on that day, but I can vouch that plenty of amber ale/lager did get consumed. ;-)

Sunday Beer O'clock will commence here in another 2hrs. :-)

Cheers.

On tv the other night, I saw Nigella Lawson eating a Scotch egg and drinking a Guinness at The Victoria pub in London. That looks like a fine place to enjoy a pint or three...

I am enjoying some Budweisers, and a 8 swallow swig of 100 proof legal moonshine while cooking pork chops, green beans, and bread sticks.
My wife is having a baked potato in addition to the above, except no alcohol.

Sounds good, Steve. I spent some time in Hazard, Ky back in 1997, and had something of the moonshine variety. I'll stick to beer. It always cracks me up whenever I see an episode of the Waltons, whose neighbors make something called "special recipe". I really prefer the Colonel's recipe. ;~)

The U.S. brewer, the Miller Brewing Company, decided to try and break into the Aussie market way back in the early '70's by buying up pubs all over the country (they even built a few here), but they didn't last 5yrs as no decent person here could even remotely call that swill "BEER" (even when compared to the worst of our locally produced low alcohol servings at the time).

In fact thousands of kegs of the stuff were given away in the end when the company retreated back to the U.S. after suffering huge loses here and the cost of shipping them all back across the Pacific wasn't worth it (only the professional alco's around at that time were lined up for those freebees).

Anyway, on the way back from paying a bill at the post office, I dropped into the top pub for LLB and now I'm enjoying a few homie lagers before Friday Night back at the top pub (if I don't get washed off the hill here in the mean time).

Cheers.

The Baldwin Sister's. They have been drinking the "recipe" most of their lives.

Last week I decided to lose 10 pounds and switched from my favorite craft beers to Bud Lite. Speaking from that sad experience I contend Bud is not beer but a beer like watery substance

lawsuits

I see Michelob is on that list. I used to like Michelob Dark and Mich Dry, but I haven't seen those anywhere in ages.

There has also been lawsuits between American Budweiser and the Czeck Budweiser
A beloved child has many names, it is said.
Budweiser, Budvar, Budejovicky, Czechvar.
In North and South America, it must not be called Budweiser because there is an American Budweiser.
So therefore it's instead called Czechvar there and the American Budweiser is actually named Bud in EU countries if they should follow the rules.
But it does not apply of course in Sweden (as well as the UK and Ireland) where both the beer will go under the name Budweiser.

I had to laugh one time when a friend of mine went west to another state and brought back a 6 pack of Coors which he said was so good. well in NY state you couldn't buy it yet so he gave me a can to try. I thought man this stuff is Awful , I have only had one other can in years and it was just the same, "AWFUL".

Bud and a few other big selling beers all fall under the same taste.
Micro brews are beating them by far better.
Cheers everybody

A friend of mine loves Heinekin, but it's not any better than the Buds and Millers, imo.

Interesting, that when I was in the USA I had no problem finding suitable beer.

That picture was taken with my iPhone in a convenience store in Yarmouth MA. (How weird is that).

I was travelling between Providence RI and Cape Cod MA .

I have never looked at the location before today !!

This was not a "big town store" so are UK beers popular over there. I cannot see any in that picture going down well with a regular Bud drinker :-)

You hot the mother lode there, Bernie!

I'll take the two stouts on the right, and the porter on the left. Thanks.

I love European beers, but Budweiser is inexpensive, and my system is used to it. My favorite beers are the Trappist Ales. I have been drinking Budweiser for decades. Some of the American craft beers are very good. Every now and then I stumble on a good one.
