Your half right: Here is an quote from that publication: "If you are charging for shipping, which may not be taxable, use terms such as shipping, delivery, freight, or postage. If you are charging for handling, which is taxable, be sure to use that term on your invoice." So what you pay to UPS, FedEx, Post Office, etc, is not taxable, but your handling charges including packaging are taxable. |

And there is nothing you can do about this, outside of buy from someone else, if that is possible and that isn't always possible to do. You can buy from out of state sellers. Unless they have offices or warehouses in California, they don't have to collect sales tax. Of course you the buyer are suppose to report out of state purchases. |

Of course, I think with their income tax returns, though some aren't allowed to do that. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Good luck on anything mentioned there from happening, not in the present climate at least. And there are out of country sales, like to Canada, Germany, Japan, China, etc, etc, etc. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

That would be good to see over here, but it doesn't happen in the UK. Yes you can print pre-paid postage from the Internet, but nobody that I see seems to want to do that. Here, you can also print out your postage at home, stick it on, and put the package out by your mailbox and it will be picked up. If you have large or multiple packages, you can even call them or go online and arrange for them to come and pick them up. AFAIK, the US Postal Service does not pay commissions to individual Post Offices on their sales. However, if I'm wrong about that, it doesn't matter -- the postage, no matter how it's created, must indicate the originating PO, so even if you print your own they will still get credit (or at least statistics) for it. Another however, though. The services that handle the print-it-yourself business all get a cut, thus reducing the revenue to the USPS. That is my reason for going there in person. That sounds a reasonable idea, sadly if we tried that one's post would be nicked by local chavs within seconds. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

I like ebay, ebayers should have a drop off point if they are shipping parcels that have postage already applied, those that don't have postage applied already should stand or be in line like everybody else. Seriously, people who sell on Amazon might also be in line or even buyers from these two places or buyers from some other online retailer, Me I've got to pick up and sign for a piece of registered mail on Monday from the Post Office. Ebay should create an Ebay Postbox Office store for them. Like that will ever happen, that's about as likely as teaching a house cat how to read, write and do math... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

The post office loves Ebay. In the past most of the stuff would have sold at local yard sales. Now the stuff get's shipped. Without Ebay postal revenues would be way down. Remember first class mail is down due to email. |

Remember first class mail is down due to email. Yeah, that's true, the Post Office also likes Amazon and the net in general as well.
