I'm on TV!

If you live in the US (or in Canada close enough to the border to pick up a PBS station), your local PBS station may be running a show tonight called Trains Around North America. It visits 17 different tourist operations and museums, one of which is Illinois Railway Museum. There is a clip where you see a Chicago elevated train pulling out of a barn, and then a green streetcar next to it, and then a red streetcar next to that. I am operating the red car.

(Okay, so it's only a few seconds of a blob in a white shirt in the front window of the car, but it's me! It is also possible that my feet are in the aisle at the far end of the car in the interior shot of the Nebraska Zephyr. When you see the conductor taking tickets and people boarding the Zephyr, I was standing behind the camera watching them do the shoot, also satiating my interest in video production.)

There will probably also be some shots (much longer and closer up) of my best friend, Mike Griesmann, when they get to the segment about Pullman Rail Journeys. He says they had the camera in his face for the entire 19 hour trip to New Orleans. (They probably slept for some of that, though.)

I looked on the Orange County CA PBS station that used to be known as KOCE, not a trace, but then the station has a lot of Republican orientated programming, so it's not surprising, the only program with a train there is "Dinosaur Train", KCET is in the TWC cable signal, but TWC won't actively carry that digital station, you need to have the signal go direct to the TV to get that station, among a few others, like KLCS, Create, NHK(in English too)... And I don't have a 3 way splitter, nor any extra shielded RG-6 cable, besides I have other things that are more important to fix, so I'll put up with what comes from behind the Orange curtain.

Not all PBS stations show things at the same time. Yours might run it later.

So far, I've seen segments on three different lines owned by Iowa Pacific Holdings, same company that runs Pullman. I think my friend said his paycheck actually comes from the San Luis & Rio Grande, although he's never even been on the property.

I'm going to the euphemism and bed before my part comes on.

I'll try and keep an eye out for the show. I looked on TWC online, didn't see anything about trains there either.

Winning after the late news.

@Ian: Good health is always good news.

@Blurf: Congratz on a good day at work.

@Vic: Check the local PBS stations websites. They may have a streaming service, or a link to the show's website. My local station, KVPT, often does.

No such luck out here, everything is not local, tv is either cable or satellite, satellite is only 9 channels on a UHF TV translator, that's life in the desert.
