Ok this car talk has convinced me that going back two days to win the mega millions Is just a teaser. I would go back to 1967 and buy a Pontiac GTO and not drive it until I rewon the mega millions:) I would take my mega millions and buy old money from before 1967. And as far as I know you could allways buy silver. Coins or bullion. Jeez, Im not that stupid to take 2015 money back to 1967. [/quote] Old James |

I would go back to 1967 and buy a Pontiac GTO and not drive it until I rewon the mega millions:) Because of currency manipulation that was taking place at the time, silver was about $1 an ounce. Silver dollars where available at the time and I received 4 of them but you would have to haul back somewhere around 3,000 ounces of coins or bullion or something like 200 pounds of metal. In addition, because of the age of the coins you might be better off to keep your money here because many of those coins have become collectable. Silver that's not collectable sells for $20 an ounce. It's not easy making money off currency manipulation using a time machine. It's also the reason I only have a very small amount of gold and silver and my money is in the stock market. |

Most financial advisors reccommend having a balanced portfolio and a large proportion is usually advised as government stocks, gilts, and bonds. Putting it al in the stockmarket is fine until another 1929 comes along. Yes and no. If you are near or are in retirement, you should own no more that 50% stocks. If you are seven years or more away from retirement you should be pretty much all stocks with the exception of bank saving for emergencies or job loss. I am still in the seven year out bracket but I have a conservative broker who has been caring for my mothers funds for over 20 years. As for 1929, the conditions that caused it to happen aren't likely to happen again because the banking/stock market rules have change to protect us agains that type of failure. Can we have a depression from other causes? Yes and we are still in it but it didn't have the massive losses that the 1929 one did. The 1929 depression was something I found interesting and an interesting fact is because each country handled it differently, the United States took the longest to recover. |

When growing up, and working construction to put myself through college, the older men would, invariably, tell us younger fellows that another "Great Depression" would be inevitable. It would be a matter of "when". And, they had plenty of advice, based on what they did right, and wrong, during that period of time. I went through the tag-end of it, as a child. Fortunately, my father was employed. There were a lot of others who were not. I will never believe anyone who has not gone through the depression, that another will not happen, again. Life -- as I see it -- goes in cycles, whether its ducks/pheasants, or the stock market. A syndicated personal financial columnist, Sylvia Porter, always said that a person should not invest in the stock market, unless it's with money that he/she could afford to lose. Her advice, it appears, is mostly unheeded, today. To one and all -- good luck. The market served me well, in my younger years, and helped put kids through college. Today, it's in a mid-sized, private, conservatively-run, full-service bank. |

Time seems to be racing by the past several months for me. I think it's because I'm worried about the ever-shortening amount of quality time I may have with my mother as she gets older... The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I'd go forwards 1000 years and NOT come back !!! Hm, I would love to see the future also but maybe 1000 years would be a bit much. I guess I would go 200 or 300 years into the future. I don't believe the US or UK will still exist in 1000 years. Maybe in 300, but I wouldn't bet on that either. And one question Chris: You say you wouldn't come back. Aren't there any ppl here right now which you would miss if you wouldn't come back? |

That may sound a bit strange now, but it would be my grandmother. Why? Because she's one of the very few persons that I really care about and that didn't dissapoint me. Also, she has some serious health problems and I'm sure those could be treated much better in the future. |

Ok here is one for you, you have a time machine and it is a two seater, who in your life would you want to take with you? That's simple! Because I'm single and looking... I'd take Kate Upton. If she didn't want to go; then Charlotte McKinney. If either said yes; then definitely I'd go way WAY into the future... (A guy can dream, can't he???) TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Of course, I would take only knowledge with me if I knew I would have to go back in time, any time. (Not to forget to take LSM with me!) |

Ok here is one for you, you have a time machine and it is a two seater, who in your life would you want to take with you? I really wouldn't want to take anyone with me. There would probably be an argument about where/when to go, etc... ;~) The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I would go forward about 50 years hoping for a cure to prevent spina bifida and then go back to nine months before I was born and give it to my mother. Adequate intake of folic acid prior to conception and during pregnancy helps reduce the chances of spina bifida. That is one of the reasons we now fortify many breads with folic acid. Maternity vitamins are often recommended to ensure adequate folic acid intake. |
