Thread title change. I did some work on My replacement PC, I changed the direction of the motherboard tray and installed the motherboard, though I missed a screw, I'll still need to put the wires on the opposite side of the case of course, take the top and bottom off the case to install any radiators and fans. Oh and the motherboard is an EVGA X79 Classified, it's an XL-ATX motherboard. I got some more done in My 'build'... Though I still need to remove those two 200mm fans in the top so that the cpu cooler can go in place, both fans are unhooked from the front panel, which also provides power, to take off the top I had to remove 4 long screws, which are most likely over 1" long. Grace was Supervising of course, She's an 'Expert'. ;) Of course I have to remove the bottom temporarily so that I can remove the two 140mm bottom fans, so that My 1500w ST1500 psu can go in, the connector and the cable for the forward psu location is incompatible with My ST1500 psu, or almost any other BIG wattage psu for that matter. I'll need to get 6 Noctua NF F12 Industrial PPC 120x25mm 3000 RPM PWM Fans, these are $23.95 at one place that I've book marked($143.70 before shipping for 6 fans), but not until after My property taxes get paid for in April, so May is as early as these fans can be bought/installed, one step forward and two back. These fans have the highest static pressure I've ever seen @ 7.63mm H2O, the 140mm versions are even better @ 10.52mm H2O, both fans(120 & 140) are 'water and dust protection Certified IP52 (for) water and dust protection'(at least that is what is claimed). I made some progress, I removed the two top fans and I aimed the fans on the Cooler Master Glacer 240L towards the outside(which I'll use until I get the better fans), I did install that missing screw on the motherboard of course, then I found I am absolutely out of self tapping fan screws, another thing to get for this PC... I at least have some AS5 Thermal Compound for the block and the cpu, the screws that came with the case are all machine screws of one sort or another, useless on a fan... Notice in the pic that the space for a fan is now empty, I just had a thought, I could use the screws that hold the 2 fans to the radiator to hold the fans and radiator in place, by putting the fans on top of the case and the radiator in the case, but for the moment I'm tired and hot. I think the caffeine in the fudge swirl ice cream gave Me the energy to do the work, I'm going to feel that soon. Oh and this case can hold a 480mm x 120mm radiator in the top, welcome to the BIG cases, only the Silverstone RJ11 can hold a 560mm x 140mm radiator or two if the psu is mounted above the radiators and a hole is cut in the back of the case so the psu can be secured to the back of the case and have an exit for any heat. Ok I decided not to use the screws that hold the fans to the radiator, why? Cause I almost couldn't get them back in place without having the case in the way, too cumbersome, My screwdrivers might be magnetic, but that still was difficult for Me to change the direction of the 2 fans, Amazon has some self tapping fan screws for $5.43 for 12(which also can be had for as little as $1.10 for 12 and both prices are before any shipping, I'd need 24 screws for this case). At $1.10 for 12 with 24 instead of 12, the total cost to Me would be $7.28(this includes shipping, as I so far can't find any)... Edit: I just got My TWC bill, which was lower than I thought it would be, thanks to a TWC outage, I saved $20.10, so I'll get the screws, the rest should I hope do for the cooler motor to be installed, since I'll have $35.84 left. Goodnight everyone. :-) Thanks Lynn, I think I'll shift to installing the old Silverstone ST1500 1500w psu in Her soon, like on Sunday maybe. While I wait for the screws to arrive. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
