Best statement ever made...

Brits show Yanks how to do it :-)

Watching UK election debate. Where would Britain be without people from other countries? Poor, boring and declining. But few dare to say so.

Guess who said that? A hint. He's a Swedish politician:)

OK:)

It's our former FM and PM Carl Bildt who said that.
He follows all elections including the referendum in Scotland.
But the load on the British? server was so high that he couldn't see it on his computer.
He had some funny comments about that:)

More fun:)

Sweden Democrats ask today that the government put forward a proposal to the Parliament on 1 April henceforth in official contexts should be considered as Stefan Löfvens (our PM) day. The reform is meant to give the prime minister space to comment on old promises and also introduce new ones.

Sweden Democrats party leader Jimmie Ã…kesson comments:

- To minimize confusion over the rest of the year, the Sweden Democrats to push for the Premier to concentrate its promise rewarding to a specific date. I see no obstacle to coincide with April 1st. On the contrary, I believe that precisely date works well as contextual complement.

For more disinformation, contact the Sweden Democrats' press officer Henrik Vinge.

Janne, firstly can you please not make serial posts in this thread, it is not helpful. Also it is not helpful to post links to Swedish language sites which none of us can read. A polite request and Happy Easter.

I don't Think I understand the concept of serial posts.
Where can I read about it?

Links to Swedish language sites?
Most of them are English, italian, RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN
Yes some of them are Swedish, finnish, norweigian, danish.

But most of them or not so difficult to understand because everone is already translated by Google Translate.
Press my links and Voila:)

Or If you are using Internet Explorer.
Press right button on your mouse when choosing a link in the browser.
Then select "Translate with BING"

Happy easter Chris:)

Just to clarify for those who are confused. Two posts in a row does not constitute spamming.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter break. Back to the grindstone :-)

Tory Come Home - reminds me of...

leading directly to this...

Are British Elections stuck in the 1950's?

"If they fail to convince enough voters that this is the case then the next Parliament is likely to be "super-hung," says Prof Whiteley, "far more hung than it was in 2010" - and we could be looking at years of instability and weak minority governments. It might not even be possible to form a stable coalition."

The country will end up screwed either way.

Young voters

How? Frog march them down their with a police escort???

I agree that 'forcing' isn't really workable. Maybe a carrot rather than stick would be preferable.
Free slice of cake upon casting your vote. That would convince me! (Not that i needed convincing but still).

I like the 'none of the above' option on ballot cards idea. I'd go further and say if that option wins, everyone else listed on the card should be banned from standing in an election again.
Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

Barbara is an International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies student at London Metropolitan University. She was elected onto the NUS Women’s and Black Students Campaign committees. She is pro-choice and active in campaigning to bring back EMA, against racism, against austerity, for free education and government funded NHS.

So, no surprise there then.

The SUBC is a Sky News funded website, that appeals to the younger generation.

From what I can see mainly stroppy left wing Uni students.

SUBC

If UKIP and Farage are genuinely guilty of racism, then of course they should be challenged. But let us appreciate the whole picture.

...

So who in your opinion is allowed to give their opinion and have it recognised as a valid opinion?

Describe what you think someone looks like and what background they have? Is it just women you dismiss? Black women? Or Union members? I am curious to know.

Timetable to us non-brits:)
Counting of the votes is expected to be finished on 8 May 2015. Parliament is due to sit again on 18 May and will begin by electing or re-electing the Speaker. The Queen's Speech and State Opening are due on 27 May. After a few days of debate, there will be a vote on the Queen's Speech, which is generally regarded as a test of whether the new government formed can stay in office (although it does not constitute an explicit vote of no confidence under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act).

Oh boy, miracles will never cease to amaze me...

...got a lovely surprise in the post this morning...

...A polling card...

...did that "nice" MP for this city have anything to do with that?

NO

It wasn't that good a miracle, it was all down to online registration.

So who needs local jobsworths that can't do the job they get paid to do!

Now all we need is a supercomputer with AI & who'll need MP's!

New style ballot papers: -

Intel (Tories)

AMD (UKIP)

Sun (Lib-Dem)

Cray (Labour)

Raspberry (SNP)

@Uli No need to play nice. We are extremely mild compared to the viciousness of those that govern us.
