Good afternoon from somewhere just south of foggy Holland, Michigan. To accommodate the large numbers of college students going home for Thanksgiving and back to school after, Amtrak modified the schedule of the Pere Marquette for last Wednesday and today. The train is usually scheduled so Michiganders can ride from Grand Rapids to Chicago for the day and then go home. The special schedule has the normal morning train run earlier, then the train runs out again as far as Holland and back to Chicago. Then, I think the normal evening train runs later than usual. Since I've never ridden the line before, I took advantage of the possible out and back trip to collect the mileage. If you're worried that I'm displacing college students, the train is nicely full but not packed. Nobody lost a seat because of me. Prometheus Update: Received PS/2 keyboard from system donor. Attached PS/2 keyboard, went into BIOS, enabled "USB Legacy Devices", and now my new Logitech keyboard and mouse set are recognized. :-) I disabled the on-board IDE controller in favor of SATA. Made sure the SATA support was enabled. Saved settings, and exited... Installed Win 7 Pro x64. Now I'm installing Video drivers and other software... I'll be busy for awhile. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |
