There's a little neighborhood station near me that is always at least 10 cents higher than stations even a mile away, but people still buy it there out of convenience. I have a Texaco-branded local chain Mini-Mart 3 blocks from my house. Unleaded regular is $4.09 cash, $4.19 credit, and has not changed in 6 months. The Valero station 3 blocks west of there, and across the freeway, is $3.89 cash, $3.94 credit. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

That's interesting you mentioned Valero. The first one I've ever seen is being built near a highway exit, here, and it is a really nice looking brick building they're putting up. Now that is interesting that the gas stations charge more for credit than for cash. The nearest we have to that over here is the corner shop having a minimum purchase of £5 to pay with a card. The owner says he has to do that to offset the bank charges. Do your stations put a .9 on the end of all the prices? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Which does not display the last digit of the price and $3.85 is not real, not yet at least, I went and bought about 3.536 gallons of gasoline on the card and the lowest price was still $3.959... But when prices go sky high, there are lines at the stations with lowest prices. People should remember that during normal times. |

Gas is €1.396 per liter here in austria today. Thats 1.90 US$. That means that the gallon costs $7.19 here. |

I usually look for the least expensive gas here. I use the state version of Gasbuddy, which for me would be http://www.arizonagasprices.com/ |

Gas here in central Florida for the last few weeks has been hovering around $3.75/gal for regular grade, $3.90 for premium. The owner's manual for my 2000 Eldorado says I should use premium grade but over the last four years I have put a lot of mid-grade gas in her tank. Edmonton Alberta Canada gas is 1.169 @ liter Its hovering around the $1.50 mark here in Vancouver. I still think it is cheap compared to the UK, however, things are further apart here and the public transport isn't as good (although it isn't actually bad tbh). Reality Internet Personality |

.. I disagree, Chris. With climate change being the biggest threat to humanity right now, people need to be forced out of their cars or forced into more economical ones. To be fair, the higher gas prices have drive innovation to more fuel efficient cars in Europe, which is now spreading to the U.S. as people realise the all round benefits. What you should be complaining about is the ridiculously high cost of public transport in the UK. It shouldn't be cheaper to fly to Scotland than to take the train. Reality Internet Personality |

Has anybody stopped to think that climate change (warming) may on the whole be a good thing? We may be inconvenienced by having to rebuild our cities and some countries may suffer a loss of cropland but many like Canada and Russia may benefit from a warmer climate making more land farmable and bring a longer growing season. Then there is the rise in sea level, thanks to the warmed up oceans which are melting the ice in Greenland and Antarctica, causing a drought along most of the west coast and extra rain storms/mudslides elsewhere. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

For the rest of the world that speak proper English, Gas = Petrol Damn, now that is expensive! But in terms of percentage it's not that much difference, here in austria 57.2% go to the government AFAIK. I guess there's a lot of diesel cars in the UK also these days? Here we have around 56% diesel (passenger cars only). PS: I wanted to write something else then "Damn" first but I'm not sure, is the f-word allowed here? |

Overall, in the UK 52% of all vehicles on our roads are running off diesel. The Kite Fliers -------------------- Kite fliers: An imaginary club of solo members, those who don't yet belong to a formal team so "fly their own kites" - as the saying goes. |

If I were to buy a car with a Diesel engine, it would be a VW Beetle. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
