I used to watch them when I was a kid. I used to dream of growing up and getting one of those 6 wheeled ATVs. |

Marbooka may not have blessed me, but he (she???) didn't smite me either. I knew in advance that I was going to have dinner in a restaurant, so I shaved calories at breakfast and lunch so that I had a few "in the bank". I parked the car about a half a mile away from the restaurant and walked to and from it for a total of a one mile walk today. The walk was not as hilly or as long as the walks I take with Maya, but I figure it was better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Those of you who have met me in person know that my clothing style is loose and flowing. I've always felt that it is better to wear loose clothes and be THOUGHT a pudgy little raccoon than to wear tight clothes and remove all doubt! Still, I do have one or two pairs of uncomfortably tight pants that used to fit me well and I trotted out a pair for the evening. The tight pants served as a constant reminder to me NOT to over-eat in the restaurant. The menu at The Ice Creamery was filled with of all the usual suspects - burgers, fries, onion rings, milkshakes, sundaes the size of Texas... I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich filled with spinach and grilled mushrooms. I asked the waitress to ask the cook to use half the cheese he normally would on my sandwich. The cook complied. I said no to French fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings and potato chips as options for the side that came with my sandwich. My side was a small green salad, and for salad dressing I requested a lemon wedge. Again the cook complied. My beverage was hot black tea. No milkshake. Eric had to work late and so he was unable to attend dinner out. This provided me with the perfect excuse NOT to have a giant sundae at the restaurant. I told my relatives that I would just get a pint of ice cream "to go" and share that with Eric later. I had the server pack my ice cream in a bag full of ice so that I would have time to walk back to my car without the ice cream melting. I ordered Swiss Milk Chocolate, a flavor both Eric and I enjoy - delicious!!! (I know... I know... one cup of ice cream is a double serving and about a BILLION calories, but I still think I could have fared much worse.) My total calorie count for the day was a little over 1900. Yes, I need about 1850 to maintain my weight, but I will claim victory in the fact that I didn't blow things as badly as I could have blown them. Tomorrow is another day and I shall try, try again. |

Considering everything I think you made a very good effort. It's as much an attitude of mind as well as physical restraint. Well done Angela! LOL dear friend! If I make my ultimate goal, I'll post a picture of myself in a swimsuit and high heels!!! |

I just hate to say this but: "LSM is better now and that means I am no longer the in house cook. I am not losing weight anymore!" It has been a long month and a half, but seeing her feel better is worth all the work, and waiting. |

OK folks It's first thing MONDAY morning weigh in time. Monday the fruit bat weighs in at 93.3kg / 205.7 US pounds Net loss = 1.2 kg / 2.6 US pounds YAAAAAAY Don't know how I'll go this week the weather forecast is rain, rain and more rain all week. Oh and cold too. I don't fancy 7.5 km walks in the rain. I think I actually probably lost 4.2 kg over the week and gained 3kg on Saturday by being a complete and total pig eating a seafood basket for 2 for lunch, a can of chilli and toast for dinner and a major relapse with a large custard pie (about 600 calories) for supper. But Marbooka it was good! |

Congratulations are most definitely in order Monday! :) Well done! Weekends are often really difficult when losing weight. They're littered with both psychological, and real, booby-traps... so you did very well! :) Shame about next week's weather... I like walking in the rain... but DEFINITELY not when it's cold too :( |

I like walking in the rain... but DEFINITELY not when it's cold too :( Thanks Annie, I think my luck is changing, yesterday during my walk I had gone around the promenade at Eastern Beach when I saw a $5 note floating in the water about 20 feet from the shore. I patiently watched it for about 10 minutes as it drifted to the sand. I managed to climb down the outside of the promenade and grabbed it from the waters edge without getting wet. How cool Eh? I had no idea that our countries polymer banknotes floated and just under the waters surface as well (about half an inch). |

That is some excellent eyesight! :) If you spot a £10 mobile phone top-up voucher which blew out of my hand last Thursday... don't bother retrieving it cos I managed to get it reissued :) Was heading roughly in the direction of Australia last time I saw it :) |
