This whole Shannon/kenzieb affair is quite shocking and disturbing to me...
... but looking back at posts that span nearly seven years I don’t find that person as malevolent or someone trying to take advantage of others. On the contrary, I find that person to be interesting, intelligent, quick witted and caring. So perhaps the story told by Allie is partially true and only photos were faked. Allie told us that “She was always uncomfortable about her looks” due to a car accident that left scars on her face. She might be hiding behind an avatar of a person she knew or photographed. Perhaps after Kenzie’s death, teenage Allie got carried away and added a few things on her own. We can’t be sure about any of that.

But I want Allie or any other person behind these accounts to please come forward and explain it to us. Kenzie’s fans and friends at least deserve that much.

We are humans and quite capable of making mistakes but if we accept our failings and try to come clean; we deserve a shot at redemption too. So in my opinion, if Allie/Shannon/Kenzieb offers some sound explanation and forum moderators think that plausible, she/he should be allowed to rejoin.

This is merely an opinion and I hope no one gets angry about that. I am just trying to provide an alternate explanation that may have some bit of truth in it.

But I have also cancelled my friendship with that account because the person I thought I knew is dead either way.

I agree that could be so, but why then did Allie feel the need to also hide behind avatars of two different models?

I believe that was one of the reasons Fred started this thread, I too would like answers, though seeing some of the understandable reactions here I doubt they would receive a friendly welcome.

IF...Allie were a real gurl. And IF she were shy about looks, she could come here and be quite welcome, but not if she were to lie to us.

I myself have been told that even in my terrible moments I am somewhat lovable, LOL.

There is little here on Seti that cannot be forgiven, if one accepts life as what it is. I have been forgiven many times over, and really, at times, do not deserve it.
But, there you have the significance of one single human soul. And I really am so grateful for that. I truly am.

Granted, as the saying goes, I have chosen the path less traveled at times.
But, I assure you, it HAS made all the difference.
I should like to think that when I depart this earthly plane, I might have somehow impacted somebody in a positive manner.
It's a stretch at times, I know.
But my existence here has certainly had a positive impact on myself.
Who I am, what I am, where I am going.

If I may have saved just ONE kitten along the way, that is worthwhile.

How is this basically different than the use of an alias which it appears that many of us do. I have always posted using my real name and a real picture of myself and I generally wonder about those who use a cute or not so cute alias and pictures not representative of their true appearance. This person must have resided mostly in the Cafe as I don't even recall seeing her/his posts. The internet can be a strange and sometimes dangerous place and I doubt that I would ever send donations in memory of someone I only knew through the internet.

At first glance not that much, however using pictures of models to represent you dead mother in my opinion stepped across the line. While I have explained that as a professional photographer he almost certainly retains the right to do as he pleases with any of his images and has broken no laws, morally he certainly has a case to answer.

The fact that all the Photobucket links to all the pictures disappeared within 24 hours probably suggests he is not about to answer here.

They were most active from 2007 to 2011 and were active in the number crunching forum, doing their "first computer build" almost online there. Some will no doubt remember Q-Baby.

They were also quite active in the science forums.

And just to clear things up, as far as I can tell no money was ever requested and offers of money at various times, for various reasons, were all politely refused.

I dont recall AKA kenzie ever posting a pic in the cafe side of Seti, Except for the few that were psoted of high heels and or boots. And if my memory is correct even her profile picture was allways pixalatted so you could not see squat.
Im hoping that 20 years from now I will still be around talking about the great Seti scandal.:)

Seti has endured myself.
I have taken liberties in my fantasies.
But, even in my wildest moments, I have never ever changed my sig or avatar to try to represent myself as anything other than what I am.
It's just my role playing fantasies when I say that I am Prot.
Nothing more than that. I enjoy getting into character. I have watched the movie so many times that I comes easily to me.
But, again, it's just a game that I play.
I do not suppose that I am fooling anybody. I don't wish or pretend to.
It's always me...
My personna may change a bit, but I am always the same person you know when I get back.

I am sure that the person behind Kenzie/Allie meant no harm or malice to anybody here, or indeed the Seti project itself. In fact as Fred has already pointed out in his very thoughtfully written announcement, their actions were quite the opposite. I had some internet contact with Kenzie for various reasons, but I have no regrets on that front at all.

I am not angry like some, and I am not interested in any retribution either, but I do have a problem in seeing that any of it is funny or amusing. I would say that I am mainly bewildered and philosophical about it all, and simply never expected that anything like this would ever happen.

But I do think that it is now time to take some of the the heat out of this and accept that it has happened, and come to terms with it. And that has started to occur with some aside banter, which I added to myself. Like Bernie, I do not believe that anyone will post on Seti admitting they were behind it, and perhaps that is for the best. It would only drag this saga on unnecessarily.

We must be getting close to the time when anyone that needs to know the situation has done so, and made comments if they wish. I think it would be counter productive to leave this thread open for months to come, but that is of course a decision for Fred to make. Bernie has already offered to accept PM's from anyone that wants to check matters or wants further details, and if he is happy for that to continue, then that could be the best way forward from here on.

Whoever or whatever Kenzie is or was, I have kind memories, and I shall attempt to draw a line under it all on that basis.

I also hope that you are around in 20 years, but I hope we won't still be talking about the "Great scandal", that won't be doing the project any long term favours. We recovered from the NEZ business and we will from this. I don't think we should dramatise it more than necessary.

Perhaps an initial "summing up" post from Fred could be welcome at this stage??
