There are certain right wing commentators like Rush Limbaugh (and others whom I do not listen to very often).

[Edit]: To make this even more complicated, many personalities in the media and elsewhere have varying views, for example, I am conservative when it comes to the military and security, but liberal on many social issues.

Yes very impressive, but can I book the cabin next to the casino, that's the one with the double bed, mini bar, on-suite and balcony! "now there's a thought"

FBI drops custom eavesdrop software for ready-made
WASHINGTON – The FBI has effectively abandoned its custom-built Internet surveillance technology, once known as Carnivore, designed to read e-mail and other online communications between suspected criminals, terrorists and spies, according to bureau oversight reports submitted to Congress. The FBI said it has switched to unspecified commercial software and has increasingly asked Internet providers to wiretap targeted customers on the government's behalf, reimbursing companies for their costs...

FRom the same article:-
"The FBI said it could not disclose how much it spent to produce the surveillance software because part of its budget is classified."

Is that a definition of paranoia?

It's not necessary to label Tech Central as left or right, that's often not a factor in whether any one story is factual or not, anyway, no matter what news organ is grinding it.

I look to where the money comes from to judge the possible veracity of a 'news' org.

Here's a quote from Tech Central from their site where they list their sponsors:

''....so we are grateful to AT&T, Avue Technologies, The Coca-Cola Company, ExxonMobil, General Motors Corporation, Intel, McDonalds, Merck, Microsoft, Nasdaq, PhRMA, and Qualcomm for their support. All of these corporations are industry leaders that have made great strides in using technology for our betterment, and we are proud to have them as sponsors.''

Tech Central talks in their 'mission statement'' about their impetus being to guide your investment decisions by staying ahead of technological advances and their view of technology is summed up thusly:

"..technology in its widest sense is the manipulation of nature for material gain."

Further examination of Tech Central will unearth ties to Richard Mellon Scaife, the Moonies, Regnery Press, Kenneth Starr, et al.. talk about through the looking glass.

So to even call them a 'news' organ is shaky at best, whether left or right, their interests are to be served. What they 'serve' to the public is not founded in journalistic ethics but rather what they 'serve' is advice to investors for the benefit of the corporations, all seasoned with some odd influences.

Pillar of salt,? I'd take it with some independant analysis...

House Ways and Means chairman Rep. Bill Thomas [R-CA] on Sunday claimed Congress should consider looking at Social Security reforms that would payout future benefits -- on such factors as race and gender! Depressed and determined Dems are ready to rip hard...

misfit,

?

The Repugnant reference was not intended to be all inclusive of all the GOP, or necessarily, all their supporters.

There are any number of grown-up, responsible Republicans... ....(though, they've clearly been marginalized lately...)

My corollary was specifically directed to the actions of those like House Ways and Means chairman Rep. Bill Thomas [R-CA], who proposes arbitrarily cutting benefits to women because they may survive for some small additional length of time.

I'm just saying...... I want to make sure when you stir the pot, you don't use my spoon.
