Winning after ciggie break

There's a new fangled device called a nicotine patch that will reduce the need for those... Much healthier for you, too... It will help you quit the habit; if you're interested, of course... Just caring and sharing, not judging...

Goodnight, Julie. :-)

Tried those nicotine patches before, just like those nicotine chewing gums, doesn't work...
There's this revolutionary new pill, called Champix that would do the trick but I'm quite askance if it comes to medication...

Wonder if its the same thing we call Chantix. [just looked it up, they are the same thing Varenicline], I helped me stop after 20 years of smoking. I was also motivated by 2 heart attacks. I think I could have stopped without it. Here they have a web site and support system to help you beyond just the drug. I have been smoke free for 4+ years.

I guess it's the same. I have some friends here who also succeeded in quitting with Champix after many years of smoking! And over here, the first time you try Champix, you get it for free, also helps your motivation I think...

I tried quitting cigarettes about 8 months before I had my CABG x3 back in '95 (didn't know about my heart condition until about a month before the surgery); used the patches. Managed to stay smoke-free for about 3 years, then went through a divorce & I let the stress get to me & started up again. Haven't been able to quit again (yet), no matter what I tried using ("cold turkey", patches, etc.); longest I went since then was maybe 2 weeks.

The longest time I quit smoking was three months and that was because of my stay at the intensive care...

Very glad I never started smoking. But I think if I had, cold turkey would be the way for me to quit.

My problem is, I can't quit eating "cold turkey" (in quotes to specify that my problem isn't with eating chilled poultry). If I could just stop eating altogether, I probably could do it.
