Once they've applied for the license, you know their name and address, which should make rounding them up and deporting them easier.

They probably already know that info, I read somewhere that it can take 20 years before a case is heard and action taken to repatriate illegal immigrants in the US states close to the southern border.

Probably the logic with that is "you don't want people driving down the streets who don't know how to drive and don't know the CA traffic laws"

Close. You don't want people driving on California streets without insurance. Damn pain when they cause an accident then run out of the country leaving the people they hurt without any compensation.

Oh, in case you didn't know, you might not if you live far from the border, it is legal to drive a car with Mexican license plates on a Mexican drivers license in the USA. You are supposed to have American insurance. Same if a US resident wants to go south.

The biggest rant I've heard is that all the illegals aren't "in the system." Well, give them a drivers license and they are "in the system!" Now STFU.

I have some opinions which I state rather vehemently at times due to my incredible frustration with the issue and with our government, who is doing everything exactly the opposite of how they should be doing it to stand up for the legal citizens of this country rather than coddle and support the illegal ones.

OK, I'll back off a notch. If you are not comfortable with shooting illegals on sight as they violate our border, I would settle for immediate and absolute repatriation to the land from whence they came.

I understand that catapults are modestly priced to deploy, have minimal operating costs, and are easy to maintain.

I worked with A Bunch Of Illegals in a Certain State, 40 years ago. They were Some Fun Guys. They called me Castro, for My Castro Like Beard.

Played Soccer with them during Breaks. Gave a ride home to one and they lived 10+ to an Apartment. The Apartments were Razed Later, as Per Usual, and an Industrial Park put in its Place.

Don't think they ever spoke English to me. We worked together fine. Can't remember what I thought about it then. I was Totally Un-Political.

First, the "Free Trade" politicians... WHOOSH... into the ocean.

Mark, are you willing to pay the "double" in taxes to pay for all the additional Judges, bailiffs, court house buildings full of court rooms, court clerks, prisons full of holding cells, airplane tickets (these days most of them are from further south than Mexico), and guards to do what you advocate? It likely comes out to a lot more than the amount of free health care the illegals get right now ...

I know you are heartless, but I suspect even you would have to agree that anyone picked up who says they are legally entitled to be in the USA should be given a chance to show that, so you will need lots of courtrooms.

Let's run some numbers, from 2008 an average of $47,102 a year per inmate. There are about 20 million of them. Takes an average of 560 days to hear a case. Multiply that out and it is a large part of the present US budget, and we haven't put in any cost of courts, or the ICE agents to go round them up.
