What dismays me even more than the programming is the fact that these shows consistently get high ratings. It really makes me wonder what these people do for a living. Maybe on the other hand, I don't want to know.

I was unclear. I meant the people that watch the programming.

Same reason Soap Operas, excuse me, Daytime Dramas, are so popular. Some people enjoy watching shows about folks who are more screwed up than they are.

Just a follow up. According to Zap to it Honey Boo Boo was the fifth most watched TV program in the USA Wed. night with 2.92 million viewers. Family Guy was number one with 3.1 million watching. The Science Channel's "Through the Wormhole" hosted by Morgan Freeman didn't even make the top 100 list. I guess I'm in exclusive company.

I just had a great idea, say we make up a reality show
Where Canada invades the US of A? Do you think,
most people down there may watch the show rather than
try to stop us from making war on the Baldwin family?
(Just wondering.)

Only thing with a Baldwin family member in it that I've enjoyed watching was The Hunt for Red October.

As for Canada invading the US - take Detroit! Please!

Guess you didn't care for the "Firefly"/"Serenity" shows with Adam Baldwin?

What I dislike are really good (Sci-Fi) shows that only produce about 6-8 episodes/year and then you have to wait about a year to get to the next season!
(e.g., "Falling Skies" on TNT)

IMHO, you're not missing anything on Syfy. Two Saturdays ago, late at night, they ran a single episode of Stargate: Atlantis. I glommed my DVR onto it to set a recording of any episode, any day, any time. Didn't get another one this week.

If you get BBC America, they have three episodes of ST:TNG every morning. Currently in season 7, so it will start over soon. They also have Dr. Who, of course.

No BBC either.

Those are all the stations that I get and translators in this state only go to 10 stations, by CA sate law, even though being a digital setup there is room for 2 more stations on the digital side of the translator, the analog side will eventually be shut down.

Well that's a stupid law. Why is a state regulating broadcasting anyway? That's a federal function.
