I hear people talking about "interesting units" - how do we find out if we've had any? Some say it's in your states, others say they email you (but I've never gotten either) w/ over 2 million WUs. |

If it makes you feel any better, NO ONE has ever been individually notified about anything "interesting", nor would I expect anyone would be. Any announcement would come through current and appropriate scientific publications, though rumor is the systems that identified the "find" would be credited in the publication. |

Thank you - so I guess these people are either misinformed or trying to get attention. :) |

I hear people talking about "interesting units" - how do we find out if we've had any? Some say it's in your states, others say they email you (but I've never gotten either) w/ over 2 million WUs. However, the project has plans to pique that curiosity and raise your eyebrows. The NTPCKR program is under development to search the haystack for a golden needle. The haystack is the Master Science Database. In the NTPCKR link, note that the plan is to provide " ... web based tools for querying and displaying ntpckr generated data." In other words you might get to poke around in the data for results you think are "interesting". And NTPCKR may also be the main science output to find actual candidates for independent authentication. There are only a handful of people to do too much project development. So NTPCKR is a work in progress. You can see here that there is hardware in place right now for this project. Scroll down the list of servers and you will see that server khan is earmarked to run NTPCKR. Like you, I and I am sure all of us would like to see the results of our crunching. If there are "interesting" results, we hope and expect NTPCKR will show them to us. "It is often darkest just before it turns completely black." |

others say they email you (but I've never gotten either) w/ over 2 million WUs. You've got 2 million credits, which doesn't mean you ran 2 million tasks (or WU). You get credit for each task that got through validation correctly. The credit is always more than one, even on -9 overflow results, but on non-errors usually sixty and more. Depends on what applications you run as well. Astropulse scores higher credit than Seti v7. |
