Iowa, Illinois, Indiana headed toward a drought again. Since July 1, we've only had about half the normal amount of rain. Chance of getting a bit on Thursday, but not much. I just saw a Facebook post from the National Weather Service that said we're getting smoke from the wildfires in Idaho. It's visible on the satellites. With all the fires in the Sierras, we've been breathing smoke all summer. Only time the Air Quality gets under Orange/Sensitive is for a few hours after it rains. Tell that to the EPA and the Air Quality Boards. They don't seem to care where it comes from, if the particulate counts get over a certain point enough times, our car registration taxes go up as punishment (yeah, I know what the regs say, my niece the lawyer is fluent in legalese). [I just saw a Facebook post from the National Weather Service that said we're getting smoke from the wildfires in Idaho. It's visible on the satellites. Smog does seem to make health matters worse, at one time I was diagnosed with asthma, I've never had a episode of course, it's just when I was 12 I couldn't keep up with some of the other kids on a hike up into the mountains(that wasn't when I was diagnosed of course, that came when I was 18), so I had to stay with another troop, on flat ground(or nearly) I could keep up just fine, it didn't help matters that when I was 11 I was about 4.5' tall and at 12 I was 5'10.5" tall, that was a painful year, both to Me and to Dads wallet. I sympathize Donald, I really do, but at the same time air pollution hurts everything, except the rocks under ones feet. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! except the rocks under ones feet. Most of the time marble(which before metamorphic heating was limestone, if I remember right from My geology merit badge, yeah I have a few) isn't on the surface of the ground. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

Marble Statues? Yeah part of smog will affect them, I've seen it and the wear isn't pretty, it's like someone smoothed out the column into a shadow of itself. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

The 90 today was the first in over a month. A "cold" front is supposed to come through tonight with scattered t-storms. Low 80s tomorrow. Climbing into the 90s again next week. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

So much for the low 80s. Current temp 70F, dew point 69, rain has bumped up to 0.80" thanks to a good heavy soaking during the workday. Having not expected that much, I left my umbrella at home, so I hope it's light or nothing when I leave in half an hour. If it's raining now, they'll be making the announcement about the rain plan for bus riders in a couple minutes. I don't know how much rain we got, but we had fog overnight. I'm just off the edge of a looong band of a dense fog advisory going about from southwest Wisconsin to somewhere in Indiana. I left the AC on just to handle the humidity. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Sometime in 2016 or so I'll have AC for the house and probably work on the cars a/c too. If I had a bit more income, it might be different. Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
