Chicago on Thursday hit 90F for the first and only time this month. Currently 80. I'll probably turn off the AC tonight or in the morning. Supposed to be in the 70s and dry for the next several days. Sometimes I wish I had working central a/c here in My house, I've got the parts, but their old and would be expensive to get working and probably not inexpensive to run(the last estimates that I'd gotten were from $2,000 to $6,000), My current electric bill is $43.82, I would need to replace 3 windows and get 2 exterior doors by a locksmith, the locksmith charges a $100 trip charge last I heard, plus maybe have a coat of paint applied to the outside of the mobilehome, right now with 1 PC that is not doing any work, the temp is 82F and 75% humidity, it's 80F in the coolers air flow. We only have a small portable A/C unit. The thing works well in our little house. |

The floor is finally getting warm, it's 111F outside, it's still 82F in here though and the record is 113F for today, still time to tie or break the record, again. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Very strange weather here today.....cool and still muggy. The wind is coming from the northeast and swirling about....not very common for this neck of the woods. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

The local BBC radio was quoting views on a heat ways across the pond, with temperatures likely to hit 53C (127F). Anyone heard different? It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

69 out at bedtime. Turn off the air or not. Not. The house generates enough heat that it'll still be warm in here, plus there's no breeze to push air through the windows. Can't sleep. 2am, step outside to see how it is. Not bad, but still humid (late afternoon rain). Hear the big click the compressor makes when it starts... but it doesn't start. Poke head inside; fan is running. Oh s&!t. Go in, turn it off, open a couple windows and turn on a fan to bring the cool in. Supposed to be nice the next few days, but I better get it checked before the long holiday weekend. In Death Valley it's supposed to get to 126F later today, right now it's 98F there and the sun is just rising here. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Anyone heard different? This is Canada's birthday weekend. We will be 147 years old. (July 1st) It is supposed to be our hottest weekend to-date. Right now it is cloudy and only 18C, but it will go up to 33C. |

I think Death Valley CA still holds the record at 134F in 1913, not like that is something to do more than try to avoid, I'd need another swamp cooler or real a/c. It's 107F at 1:07pm Saturday... Nothing like a good thunderstorm to set you straight. As long as it isn't accompanied by a tornado too. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
