69F here in Naperville at the moment, down from 70 45 minutes ago. I'm keeping the AC on for the humidity. Flooding happening to the north of me, but I'm not hearing about any here. However, what comes down there must come down here. (Well, actually, I don't think the DuPage River extends as far north as where the heavy rain was, so maybe we won't get any. Aurora probably will in a day or two, though.) David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

The last 3 days of June for Yermo CA are predicted to be 115F/46C, yuck! Yuck indeed. Some people in my position might turn off the AC and open the windows. But I think I'll keep it on until the weekend when the high is supposed to be what it is right now, low-mid 70s. The last 3 days of June for Yermo CA are predicted to be 115F/46C, yuck! I've got the cooler on high and I have 3 windows open, it was 104°F / 40°C today too, plus it was for the desert, a hot and humid day. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

The last 3 days of June for Yermo CA are predicted to be 115F/46C, yuck! Why not put the cooler on low and close the windows? David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

The Chicago office of the NWS posted this on Facebook tonight: Fog is possible overnight and it could be dense. There is a possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, due to another upper level disturbance moving through the area. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 80s with dew points in the upper 60s to near 70. Heavy rain could accompany the storms, but the storms should be moving relatively quick, so big amounts of rainfall are unlikely. Although it may not take much to worsen the conditions. There will of course be two trains coming through that I want to see tomorrow. The last 3 days of June for Yermo CA are predicted to be 115F/46C, yuck! The cooler is not an air conditioner, it's a swamp cooler, this type of cooling uses water to wet pads, that a blower pulls heated air through, the air is cooled by the water in the pads and is blown into the house and so needs at least one window open, works really good when it's dry outside and not humid outside, the the cooler is on low cool when it's not too humid outside, when the humidity is higher then the cooler is on high cool for the breeze and air flow, which means more windows need to be open. An evaporative cooler, photographed in Rocky Ford, Colorado, used in the drier parts of the American West to provide economical cooling.
